About this listen

When Private Investigator Kate Marshall is rushed to hospital after being pulled into a riptide current in the sea, the near-death experience leaves her shaken. During her recovery, she befriends Jean, an elderly lady on the same ward. Jean tells the harrowing story of how her three-year-old grandson, Charlie, went missing 10 years ago during a camping trip on Dartmoor.

By the time Kate is well enough to go home, she's agreed to take on the case, but when Kate and her trusty sidekick, Tristan, start to look at the events of that fateful night, they discover that Jean has a dark past that could have put Charlie in jeopardy.

Was Charlie abducted? Or did he fall into Devil's Way, a rushing river that vanishes into a gorge close to where they were camping?

When Kate and Tristan discover that a social worker who flagged concerns about Jean and her daughter was found brutally murdered shortly after Charlie vanished, it makes them question everything they thought they knew about the family....

Filled with twists and turns, Devil's Way is the fourth Kate Marshall novel and the most gripping and satisfying yet!

I could not get past the narrator and just read the book on my Kindle. Awful choice of voices particularly the male characters.

Hate it when the narrator is changed mid series

Another great Kate Marshall book, but Jan Kramer’s narration is just too precise for these characters and the accents felt over the top. Kristin Atherton, who did the previous Kate Marshall books, did a much better job of voicing different characters.

I preferred Kristin Atherton’s narration

Great story and narration! Twist’s and turns in several directions.
Can’t wait for the next in this series!!

Never disappoints

The story started off well and immediately grabs the reader’s attention. Just as I believed that I solved the mystery, there of course was a twist! I love that the ending was realistic. Can’t wait to read the next one!

Another hit! I love this author!

Good story. Not sure why lead had to almost drown to take the case. But otherwise enjoyed it.

Good story

Narrator is usually good in other books.bWHY so bad in this one?? Hard to listen to. Very aggravating!

Narrator is awful!

Since the narrator of the Robert Brundza books change the narrator, it’s not as fun anymore. The new narrator sounds like she’s reading a children’s book and takes away the thrill and tension out of the story. I wish they could go back to the original narrator of the first books.

Good Kate Marshall story, poor narration

I love this series ~ narration was read in a child like voice, extremely annoying for this book. Original narrator in this series was much more suited to genre.

Great story

The storylines are predictable but it is still a good series overall and I will keep reading if more are released.

Predictable but good.
