David knows all about working in a dead-end job. At least he thinks he does. After a freak accident in the barren wilderness of the Australian outback, he finds himself confronted with the true meaning of the term. David is now a dungeon core, charged with producing armies of minions and ensuring his domain is a place where the unworthy go to die.

But the accident not only transformed David, it fractured him. Part of his psyche still remains with his broken body. When an interloper wrestles control of the dungeon away from him, David must brave real-world perils to ensure that both he and the dungeon he has become will survive.

Can David withstand the breaking of his body and ravaging of his soul? Will he reunite with his dungeon self in time to destroy the menace trying to take over his dungeon? There’s only one way to find out - listen to Dungeon Configure today.

Great first audiobook!

Good story and narration!

David gets turned into a dungeon and a dungeon core in the Australian outback. Now he has to figure out how to survive as a dungeon in the wild!

Travis does a great job with the narration really bringing the characters to life.

This one was really interesting, and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

we had to wait a while but it was worth it

we had to wait a while for this being on audio but it was worth it that's a good story and he handles the splitting of the two parts of the dungeon core the Voice Talent works very well with the accents and the pit trap that he go to phone into we're clearly defined such as the harem cliche that often place the genre

Intense!

I had not come across a horror book within the gamelit genre but I really enjoyed it. It was really intense. Travis Baldree is an excellent with the narration.

Unique changes

I think this is a good story that changes the usual troupes of the Dungeon core style. First, it removes the campanion of the dungeon core. So, no annoying fairy or pixie who doesn't help the story except to say "Can't do that" or "That's unique, and you're unique for doing so." Second, the dungeon core isn't stuck in the cave. Third, it gets dark...like Alien chestbuster dark. This could be a horror movie easily. I enjoyed my journey and want to continue it. BTW, Travis is a awesome narrator and you should check out A Snake Life which he reads.

Super fun read

I’ve read a bit of RPG lit before but this was the first D&D and I -loved- the spin. Just finished re-reading it today to prep for receiving my order of the next in the series in a few days. Every bit as good the 2nd time through. I thoroughly enjoy Neenan’s style and the Baldree’s performance of the novel. Hoping they do the rest of the series as it’s easier for me to find time to listen to books than read physical copies these days. The mechanics, gore, lore, and development are all well thought out. Dungeon Configure is a great fast paced read that I highly recommend for anyone remotely interested in gritty, magical adventure.

Fed a fairy to a bug zapper?!

Oh my goodness, this book is good. The fairy scene had me dieing. It's good to see that trope being literally killed. I love the grit, and lack of gratuity. The language was quippy, and engaging. the story was compelling, and I just kept wondering what was going to happen. I am glad I read it, and I'm sad they're isn't more. Not many books I've read have kept my interest as well as this one has. Thank you for the awesome read.

Interesting twist in the field of dungeon cores

Ok everyone always wants to know why 4 stars and not five? That’s because of how I feel about other dungeon core books I’ve listened to. Having given some that I enjoyed more five stars I can’t give this one 5 as well hence the four. Heck, you may listen to the same ones give this one five and others that I liked a four star. To each his own. A man has a weird accident in the Australian countryside (hah!) and ends up becoming one helluva unique take on a dungeon core. Like other core books he must create a dungeon, gather minions, power and allies and level up. This is done in some Interesting and weird ways. If you like core books you will enjoy this one. Good narration.

The narrator does a passable Australian accent. Not being from Australia, I'm not sure if it would sound authentic to someone from that country, but it sounded pretty accurate to this American listener.

I've discovered I'm not generally a fan of the dungeon core subgenre of RPG lit books, preferring to read about people playing a game, rather than building dungeons for other players to go through, but overall I liked this book. A good sense of humor in parts, but balanced with some horror elements nicely.
