Publisher's summary

Ever wondered why people with high IQ quite often do not achieve the level of success you would expect? Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the answer.

This audiobook is a guide that provides you with information on emotional intelligence (EI) and hands-on practical steps to improve your emotional intelligence so you can live a better quality of life.

The guide employs a beginners’ approach by starting off with what emotional intelligence is. This enables you to have an in-depth understanding on emotional intelligence. It further goes on to explore the difference between emotional quotient (EQ) and general intelligence quotient (IQ), which are simply standard measures of emotional intelligence and general intelligence, respectively.

Benefits of emotional intelligence are immense and infinite. Nonetheless, this audiobook has explored some of the most important benefits you will derive should you work to improve your emotional intelligence. To enable you to have a better perspective on these benefits, the audiobook provides real-life scenarios in which emotional intelligence or lack thereof plays a critical role. With these examples, you can easily relate emotional intelligence to your own everyday situations.

The greatest challenge many face is how to test their emotional intelligence so they can estimate the magnitude of improvement required. There are many tools that have emerged to help one measure his/her own EQ. Sadly, due to huge interest in emotional intelligence, some tools have been developed hastily to meet this insatiable demand. Consequently, some are not empirically proven. This guide has listed those tools that have been scientifically proven as appropriate measures of EQ. This will help you to more accurately measure your EQ level.

Once you have determined your EQ level, it is naturally obvious that, regardless of outcome, you would desire to improve on it. The advantage of EQ is that it is elastic and dynamic. Thus, no matter your level of EQ, there is always room for improvement. In this regard, this guide has endeavored to provide you with most impactful techniques and tips that you can apply to boost your emotional intelligence.

Having a great emotional intelligence and retaining the same level of EQ is a daily, lifetime endeavor. Thus, you need to have a routine that will enable you to be disciplined enough to be on track. Hence, this audiobook has provided 30 daily habits that you can practice to improve your emotional intelligence.

Here's what's included in this book:

  • What is emotional intelligence?
  • The difference between emotional quotient and intelligence quotient
  • Benefits of having a high emotional intelligence
  • Real-life examples of emotional intelligence
  • How to test your emotional intelligence
  • Daily habits to improve your emotional intelligence

Learnt something new

I have listened to the audiobook and I got different aspects and views on emotional intelligence which I did not have before. Chapter 13 was the most interesting chapter because I got different «keys» on how to boost my emotional intelligence. As the book compared IQ with EQ, I also got to see some differences between them as well. I honesty also liked the explanations before going deeper into context. For example redefining the term: habit and then goes further to the habits that can improve your emotional intelligence. Overall I liked that the book was specific when it comes to the explaining the way to boost your emotional intelligence through Better interpersonal Connections, Self Awareness, Emotional Control and Self Confidence.

This audio book really got my attention!

Emotional Intelligence by George Pain, Narrated by Tiffany Pierson
It seems more like a book about psychology. It talks about your EI (environmental intelligence) in a way that can help you look at yourself and others in order to improve your way of dealing with situations in life and how to deal with others around you, and how you should focus on facts instead of feelings that cause you to jump into conclusions.
It is a great audiobook. I personally think this book is better to have in one's library so you can refer back to it whenever you want. It has so many helpful facts and tips from quitting annoying habits to putting your best foot forward when finding employment. Most important, how to understand others by looking at their point of view rather than debating. Lack of empathy and communication can cause you to lose out or shatter your relationships. Basically, it is trying to teach you how to be a better and decent human being.

Wonderful addition to my self help books!

I really enjoyed listening to this audio book. I had no idea what Emotional Intelligence was before listening to this and it helped me realize a lot of things that I need to work on improving. I love how it explains traits of people with not only high EQ but also those with low EQ and how to improve your Emotional Intelligence. This is a book I will be listening to a lot and recommend to others! I use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) in my daily life and many of these suggestions within this book will be incorporated into this nicely.

Great synopsis of Emotional intelligence

This was a great audio that was quick and way to listen to. Sound quality was good and story was very good. Though this does not go into as much detail as Daniel Coleman’s book it does a great job of summarizing all of the main points of EQ.

Very important information for everyone to know

My friend suggested I read up on emotional intelligence in order to deal with my son better. After listening to this audiobook multiple times and taking some notes I did lean quite a bit about how to better deal with him. I do wish I had a hard copy of the book to highlight.
