Publisher's summary

Do you happen to experience the emotions and feelings of people inside you until you feel sick? Do you often feel that others are absorbing your energy until you are exhausted? Most likely, you are a highly sensitive person and the great empathy you have can make you take care of everyone but yourself, and this can even make you sick!

Don't worry, because this state of affairs can change!

It is true that empathy is an innate attitude that is part of our genetic composition - a precious emotional capacity that allows us to create effective and rewarding interpersonal communication. But if the level of harmony and reciprocity between the mental states of the interacting subjects is not balanced, they inevitably generate negative reactions that can lead to a loss of the sense of self. The good news is that emotional harmony can be learned!

This book offers you some simple tools to control the constant flow of emotions that submerge you, creating stress and nervous tension. It allows you to build your resilience, suggesting how to find resources to react to difficulties and structure a new feeling of being. Eventually, through emotional intelligence, the book will try to reshape your excessive sensitivity by teaching you to change your mental processes, manage your energies, and restore optimal conditions of empathy.

You will find these information in the audiobook:

  • Empath and empathy: definitions and differences
  • Methods to interpret a highly sensitive person
  • Emotional education and empathy as therapeutic tools to repair defects of perception and restore optimal connection and sharing conditions
  • Ways to develop defense mechanisms against negative incentives and activate resources to correctly perceive emotions, situations, points of view, and attitudes
  • Strategies to face the invasion of negativity and avoid those who "absorb" your energy without giving up the social life

Develop self-esteem and finds the right dimension of yourself to achieve personal fulfillment.

Wow! This is an incredible

Wow! This is an incredible resource for anyone who has felt uncomfortable at a train station, family gathering or overhearing an angry conversation, only to feel re-balanced after taking a few minutes to sit under a tree. In The Empath’s Survival Guide, Dr. Orloff gives us practical techniques for dealing with heightened sensitivities to overstimulation including grounding and how to set boundaries. She approaches the gifts and challenges of being an empath with scientific, spiritual and emotional experience identifying triggers and the tools to soothe, celebrating being whole while finding common ground between intuition and other aspects of life.

Nice

From the start I knew that "The Empath's Survival Guide" would be the most succinct and helpful book I would ever find to navigate through life; it is the Ultimate Guide for True Freedom for Empaths! I learned about being an Empath from Dr. Orloff's previous books on the subject and it has definitely changed my life.

I am so grateful for this book.

I am so grateful for this book...I have read Ms. Orloff's other books and appreciate her work...this book "The Empath's Survival Guide is a life saver for me. I thought I was a co=dependent, but after reading articles regarding the book, I began to realize that I was an empath...Well this has changed the whole package...I now KNOW what it is and how to now deal with the thing called empath....I highly recommend it for one's self, or any other person who you live or work with that is an empath.

nice

I have been waiting for this book my whole life without knowing it...To have a word to put to what I am is a miracle!! also the reason why I give this book 5 stars is because it gives actual tools and lets the reader know what is so great about being an empath! Thank you Dr. judith Orloff for sharing your personal stories about being an empath yourself. I learn the best from others personal experiences...can wait to finish reading and then to the work..

nice book

If you are an Empath, (or even if you think you might be), you NEED to get this book! It's like all of a sudden, so many puzzle pieces of who I am and how I respond to things make sense! Dr. Orloff, being an Empath herself, spells out in black and white who Empaths are, how they respond to various life situations and most importantly provides wonderful strategies to empower. This book has not only helped me personally, but it is helping me take my work with clients to a whole new level: and I notice now, that most of my clients are Empaths too! BTW: grab a highlighter before you start reading - you will see so much of yourself in this book!

Best book

Best book written on this topic. Down to earth, easy to read, and practical. Fine tunes, deepens and expands ones understanding beyond the same old of other books on the topic. The book makes no apologies, promotes empath pride and is written with a positive voice. As someone who has lots of experience on the topic, the detailed and deep information shared in a very practical/accessible way paired with the tone of the book, has changed my life and others around me in a big way. Like any book you read, there were parts that did not apply to me.

Great book!

Great book! All through my childhood I was told that I was overly sensitive. Hearing the same statement from the same, several people over and over can cause one to develope a ‘Complex.’ Now I know that there is nothing wrong with me, and that being an Empath is not a bad thing. We have the gift of compassion and empathy that our world today so highly lacks. We walk to the beat of our own drum. If you don’t blend in with society’s mold that can sometimes draw unfavorable attention.
