Publisher's summary

“Once he met her, it was and always would be Lyla.”

They were the gentlemen bad boys of rock. Forming in a garage in a small town in Indiana. Taking their licks on the road. Going balls to the wall until they made their big break.

And then Preacher McCade and the Roadmasters redefined rock and roll.

Guided by their tortured lead singer and songwriter, the Roadmasters changed the face of music in the '80s and '90s. And on their journey to becoming one of the most enduring bands in history - dogged by rumors and myth and fueled by drugs and booze - the Roadmasters had one touchstone.

Lyla.

Preacher’s muse, the love of his life, and the band’s moral compass, from the beginning, Lyla is along for the ride.

But with fame and acclaim in their grasp, they’ve entered the fast lane.

And they didn’t know it, but they were headed for a crash.

Not at all what I expected

Let me start by saying I am a HUGE Kristen Ashley fan and have read or listened to everything she has written and this is the first time I have been disappointed. I did not at all like the "interview" format of the book - I found that it distracted from the story. I will continue to read/listen to KA and hope that this format is a one off and the next book will be better. So my recommendation: Listen to the Rock Chick series and everything else KA has published!

It’s a KA Book sooo.... 🤷🏽‍♀️greatnesses right 🤷🏽‍♀️

ooo.... 🤷🏽‍♀️</strong>

It’s KA so of course I had to read it right?! Right off the bat I think I knew it wasn’t gonna be my thing. It was so confusing, all of the secondary characters thrown in, trying to keep up with who’s who whewww it was exhausting. When I finally settled in and semi learned who the characters were it was much better; not that it was bad I just didn’t like the writing style or the documentary feel of it. Preacher and Lyla’s story was good but predictable; I enjoyed Lyla’s vibe with the rest of the band more than I did the “epic love story”🤷🏽‍♀️. This was the “Preacher & Lyla book“ but I was more interested in Jesse and DuShawn I can’t wait for their story 😊

Loved the audio 🥰

Beautiful and heart wrenching

Such a beautiful story. Gut wrenching story of soul mates that burn hot, burn out and reconnect as whole individuals.

raises the bar yet again

At first I was skeptical going into Fast Lane, rock bands are not my genre to typically pick out. That said its the queen, Kristen Ashley, so I had to try.
To say I was impressed was an understatement. This is far from your typical rockstar book and is told from multiple view points in style of an interview. It does include the necessary sex, drugs, and Rock n roll and all that they entail.
You become immersed in their world, invested in their lives, their pain, and their growth. And most of all- you do not want it to end. epic journey.

Passionate Gritty Hard and Fun

I throughly enjoyed this book. Ashley creates a story that is so believable it’s difficult to remember it’s fiction. Woven throughout the story is a passionate yet gut wrenching tale of love. She illustrates the ugly side of fame and her characters tell the readers of their adventures in a way that you can feel. I didn’t think I’d like the interview style of this story when I first began listening, however Ashley crafted her narrator/interviewer in a way that made you believe she was sitting in your living room retelling the tale.

Different narration, but I liked it!

it did take a while to get used to this interview type of narration, but once you're into it it's the typical detailed character Kristen Ashley fun to listen to adventure. if you're Kristen Ashley fan don't give up listen past the first few minutes and enjoy!
