Publisher's summary

He's trapped in a ruined starship full of monsters. But every section he fixes will help him turn the tide.

Jasper Cloud has been torn from a dystopian Earth and thrust into a mighty but ruined alien starship, where deranged and mutated creatures haunt the darkened corridors. They’ve consumed all but one crewmember: the being serving as the ship’s core, a young woman as badly damaged as the starship itself.

They both should be as doomed as Jasper was back on Earth, but for one surprise: Jasper has the power to help repair the damaged sections of the mighty vessel.

And every section he repairs also augments his own body.

If he is quiet and careful, he can turn himself into a weapon capable of defeating the hungry horrors still prowling the ship’s halls, and reactivate the most powerful spacecraft left in the universe.

But if he fails, then the creatures will have a vessel of their own to visit and devour every populated planet left - Earth included.

Cradle meets Dead Space.

Good book

This was a pretty good book and I really enjoyed the story. I think there were some pacing issues and it was a bit overdramatic in places, bit overall good. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

A good read...

Liked this book, like another book I’ve read recently it completely had me at the edge of my seat. It’s surprising the way the characters interact and it’s different enough to throw your misconceptions, as for the narrators dang good job you two.

What a ride

I loved this book. The narration and some of the voices actually gave me goosebumps. The power system is interesting and the small side character is an instant favorite.

Great start to a new series.

This was the second series that I have read by Nathan Thompson. I can't wait for the next one.

Original awesomeness

I’ve read this author previous series and was blown away. He does not disappoint in the least with this book. In fact this author does a number of things really well. One is to incorporate extremely unique litrpg elements instead of recycling another writers ideas. Another aspect that this writer excels at is hitting those emotional high which is usually preceded by white knuckling suspense and fear that one of characters he has made us feel something for is about to be smashed. I could go on but it’s just easier for you guys to read the book and agree with me.

Just great

I read this as a book before I was even thought of to be a audiobook and I loved it I still love it the voice actors brought the characters to life and honestly it was just a good listen

Not Nathan's best, but a great listen

honestly challengers call is my favorite from him. less pacing issues, less awkward exposition. Just as much scenery chewing lol but honestly I'm a theatre kid so...that's what I love. it is a bit stilted yeah but there's a lot of passion here.

also yes, he's a harem writer. one of the few slow burn ones. I think the ladies of CC stick a bit more with me but this IS book one. Daniel can be a bit dramatic but is always a top tier talent but Jessica who narrated both series and so so many others is a master class act.

here's the real negative though. Nathan can't afford to keep making the audiobooks For either series. it's a problem that has cost us some of the best in the genre like Hondo Jinx and Mike Truk. thankfully Nathan is still writing but this is talent that deserves to be seen. deserves to be rewarded. yes you gave your go tos and quick market makers like Eric Vall and MS Earle... but Nathan is one of those rare talents that build things deeper, more powerful like you find with Daniel Schinhofens books.

I'm not trying to advertise for the guy, just hopeful that enough people agree on his talent that he's given more chances, especially since his books are WORTH IT, even this one. give it a go...I promise at least you'll have an interesting listen
