About this listen

Still stranded in the virtual world of Freehaven Online, the Toxic Muffins, lead by Justine, are given new hope after a beloved guild member died upon failing digitization.

Mirae has come online.

No one can message her, but they have a quest leading them into the depths of Hades, an underworld that serves two planes of mortal existence, to retrieve a lost soul and escort it back to the living. They hope that's what Mirae is.

For mortals, entering the underworld is no easy task. There's no respawn within Hades and resurrection spells now have a lengthy cool-down. Justine's party will face monsters, ghosts, and even deities in their journey. To make matters worse, Hades doesn't release souls easily, and getting back may be just as testing.

Justine needs to forge a rock-solid adventure party to find the gates of the underworld, locate Mirae, and bring her home to safety, because if she doesn't Mirae could be lost to both the real and digital worlds forever.

Amazing - The Narrator Really Upped Her Game

The narrator upped her game in this book by a considerable margin. The writing was also a lot smoother, but I enjoyed the first book as well. So far as performance goes, this is is what book 1 should have sounded like.

The story is great, Loads of adventure, a few endearing mini-quests,and unique antagonists, and (thankfully) no harems if you are one of the many people who are getting tired of those in your LitRPGs. It was a nice blend of serious as the team had to chase after Mirae, and humor (quests about passengers on the train, Charon's library, etc).

It was also kinda cool that we got a glimpse into the life of a pro gamer who depends on making videos to keep his kids fed. A lot of books portray these people like rock stars, but this one makes him seem more like a family man which was nice.

Thrilling LitRPG adventure story.

This is a great second book in the series and is a very entertaining LitRPG story. It is full of adventure, action, Greek mythology and unique characters. In this story the Toxic Muffins and some interesting new characters, venture into from the bowels of Hades in a quest to rescue their lost friend Mirae. The main quest and the smaller side quests are excellent adventures that are laced with humor. They have great battle scenes, interesting loot, vicious antagonists and a host of unique characters. The narration in the audiobook is very well done and loved the different accents and intonation she used for the characters. This second audiobook is definitely a big improvement all round. I have definitely become attached to these characters and can’t wait to see what happens in the next book in the series.

Dancing

overall this has been a good listen. I drive truck and listen to LOTS of books.
With out giving a spoiler I had to stop and write this. I was laughing for over 50mi until I found a rest area.
I went to my favorite music site and listened to the song the bard played. picturing what he was and the whole situation.....So...if you listen to this book and you get to the point I'm at...you will know...stop the book and listen to the song before finishing the scene. it will be a soundtrack that will liven any mood. lol

Great follow up to the first book.

At the end of the first booked I hoped that a certain character would come back and that's what this entire book is about, the journey to find her. While I feel like there are a few things in the stat or skill description department repeated a bit too often overall they don't get in the way of the story and it isn't as number hard as some of the other books in the genre. Overall the story is enjoyable and I really liked it. We don't really get much character development but we get a lot of in game world building and some new characters. Easter eggs and references abound with my favorite references being to the authors own work. I also hate to admit to laughing at the fart joke and the book authors despite knowing who they were. Plenty of action and the pacing is pretty good. The narrator once again did a fantastic job. I look forward to reading or listening to the next book especially since it's holiday themed.

Continuing a great story

This is a continuation of the freehaven online series, where the main character explores a new world in hopes of finding a way out of the game and finding her friend. The story progresses at a good pace, and I especially liked some of the hidden easter eggs. I provided a surprising element to the story.

I thought the narrator did a great job with the variety of characters..

Another solid contribution to the genre

One thing after another on an emotional rollercoaster. Action blending with character development as we get to know the denizens of freehaven online, PC and npc alike. I look forward to enjoying book 3.

Good sequel

This book takes off where the last one left off. The group dynamic is interesting. The narrator does a good job.
