About this listen

Magic is twisted, and chaos reigns in this climactic final novel in the Crescent City trilogy by award-winning author Kristen Painter.

New Orleans is on the brink of war.

Harlow is a ghost in her own body. She has no control, no power - all she can do is watch as her twin sister, Ava Mae, lives recklessly and foolishly, slowly destroying everything Harlow has worked so hard for.

Augustine needs to focus on his new role as Guardian of New Orleans, as tourists mysteriously disappear off the streets, but all he can think of is rescuing Harlow - keeping his family safe.

As the Coven grows more powerful, control of the city hangs in the balance, and if the witches prevail, no fae will survive.

Overall a Decent Trilogy

Overall I enjoyed these three books. The world building was fun, the plot line followed through well enough, and for the most part the characters were really likeable. As some others have mentioned Harlow was extremely unlikeable in the first two books but was great in the third. I'm not sure I buy the complete turn around in just a few weeks' time but ok, I can live with that. The romance between Harlow and Augie is sweet if somewhat predictable and there were no graphic sex scenes, which I really appreciate. I also thought that Elijah Alexander did a great job with the voices and narration.

So where is the but? The timeline doesn't work unless Harlow is at least 6 to 8 (or more) years older than Augie but the story line makes it sound like she is in her 20's and that they are of similar age. The story also states that Olivia saved Augie from the streets at 14 long after Harlow had gone her own way. It then goes on to say that Olivia didn't move to New Orleans until after Harlow went off to college and she never visited her mother there until just before her death. I know, this isn't a huge thing but these types of small things bother me because they could be so easily fixed. I don't care how old Harlow or Augie are or if the is older, let's just get the story straight.

Laugh out Loud, Love from start to finish!

If you love to laugh get this Book!!!
Wow I love all of Robyn's masterpieces and this one was did not disappoint. it was so funny I laughed so hard through out the whole book I nearly peed myself in several parts. The reader did an outstanding job with each voice he comprised for each character I was so enamored I couldn't stop listening from start to finish , needless to say it was a sleepless night, one I dont regret. Thank you audible for bringing these jewels to us housewives that need to break up the monotony of our lives.

Voices changed

This is a great series, and this book is the last in the trilogy. The story and writing are great. However, although it is the same narrator, most of the voices have changed. It was quite bothersome for me, but maybe not for others. I am still very glad to have purchased this series.

really enjoyed it

Really like the story line that is there as well as the characters. They come alive as you listen. The story picks up where the last one end, then took you on a ride as the it unfolded. I couldn't quit listening until the end. Very enjoyable book!! Also liked the narrator!

Fantastic City with Dreamlike Places

I’ve had this book for a long time now and bought the audiobook when it came out. The reason I waited so long to read/listen is because it is my favorite series by the author and for some reason, being so good, I wanted to savor it. I know that sounds so crazy but I couldn’t bare it being over. It definitely didn’t disappoint. I wish I had more. The ending was perfect. I loved the main characters. In the first book, I would get so aggravated at Harlow for being so standoffish. I still liked her character but I wanted her to imbrace her Fae side. I understand why she was like she was, I would be too. Over the course of the books, she really came out of her shell. I love watching her grow. I wasn’t sure how in the world the author was going to solve all the problems and predicaments going on in the book. They seemed impossible, but as always, she brought it all together seamlessly. As dreary as the place Olivia is in, it was also so fantastical and magical. This whole book makes me want to go back to New Orleans. Augustine was my favorite. And Fenton. Their jobs were a world in themselves. I don’t want to give away any spoilers so I’ll just say, I love how the bad guys and evil were defeated and how all of them got what they deserved.

The narration was the best! I love this narrator and will listen to this over and over. There is no better person at doing the accents. I recommend this series to anyone ad can’t stop singing it’s praises. I haven’t finished the Comarre (spelling?) series this is a spin off from, but I can say this can be read/listened to without having read that one. I’ll be listening to this again after reading the Comarre. I’m sure it will bring a richer meaning to it all. I wish this narrator narrated the other though.

Great finale

Nothing felt rushed and everything was tied up nicely. Love how it was a happily ever after for most of the characters

The Crescent City Series was such a great read! I needed a distraction during the year of Covid-19 and Kristen's books really helped! Thanks Kristen!
