Not my favorite

Ms. Krentz’s writing and story crafting skills were just as evident in this bill as all the others o have read. My personal problem was that I disliked the heroine. My teeth were grinding at some of her persistent nagging, angry responses.
So this is the only one of Ms. Krentz s books I cannot give five stars snd the only one I won’t reread/relisten to several times.

It was an older book with older views on men and women

I didn't like the beating talk in Mexico. The narrator was good she kept the story going. The end was satisfying

Rapist Kidnapper hero?

I'm disgusted by the idea that Raven's behavior is okay. Another book where the hero starts out horrible and gets mildly better with understanding.

Disappointing narrative

I found the voice the reader gave the heroine in this story to be annoying. The nasal tone made her sound like a petulant teenager and interfered with the interpretation of the story.
This was very disappointing since I am a great fan of Jayne Ann Krentz novels.

very captivating

I truly enjoy the story. I was captivated from beginning to end. the narrator was compelling. I enjoyed the lessons learned both spiritually and naturally. the twist at the end was perfect! I thought I knew "who done it", then I was wrong, only to find out I was right! whoot! whoot! Great story. I can't wait to read more by Ms. Bradley.

Seriously, wasn’t expecting close to RAPE

Borderline rape both physically and fantastically in ravens head … so not ok and in my mind not something to come back from! I was disgusted, since it wasn’t part of her other books (I’ve only read 4). Probably not gonna read more now.

a 1983 JA Krenz with a 2020 release date RIPOFF

I love Jane Ann Krentz, Jayne Castle and Amanda Quick. Obviously I did not love this novel.
In 1983 many romance novels featured semi rape, men overpowering women and over weaning male "heroes" who simply went ahead with intercourse and the women responded with pkeasure. I guess it was a reaction to the feminization of men in the popular culture.
I finally gave up listening to this tale. The hero's dialogue sounded classic stalker 'you belong to me' you are mine. he actually kidnapped her to give her a chance to learn that they belonged together. Not a novel I would have selected to reprise. I have hundreds of audible titles. I've only abandoned 2 others.
A waste of space and my money. If it had to be released, it should have been clear that it was nearly 40 years out of date and released as one of the audible escapes not First Run premium book at full price

Woah...

I remember reading this book when it was first written. For some reason I didn't remember how misogynistic it was.

Definitely not up to what I expect from this author

Will never understand how women can write “romance” books where the man bullies or threatens a woman and ignores noes and generally runs roughshod over her but she falls for him anyway. Really sends the wrong message.

The most horrible book I have read

I chose this because I had listened to another book by this author. First of all it was extremely slow starting. Too much time was wasted on her trying to convince him to believe her to the point it went in circles. The book had absolutely no depth whatsoever. The character development was lacking. The worst component, however, was how kidnapping, rape, human trafficking and domestic violence was romanticized. Jokes were made about domestic violence (beating your wife, taking a switch to her etc) when quite frankly I don’t know where there would be an appropriate forum for such jokes. I don’t know if the point was to show how the protagonist’s warped way of thinking led her to accept and make excuses about violent behavior to her or if the author really didn’t think it was warped. Because of there being no depth nor cognitive resolution of these skewed patterns of thought, I don’t think it was the author’s intent to illustrate how women can fall into unhealthy relationships and not know how to get out. The book portrayed an idea that when someone is violent, kidnaps you, controls you, rapes you it is ok because that is just their way of connecting. I kept reading because I was hoping the ending would wrap up with their being some type of recognition from someone that the relationship was not ok or safe even if the woman did not come to the realization herself.
