About this listen

A parenting expert reveals the four biggest threats to girls' psychological growth and explains how parents can help their daughters develop a healthy sense of self.

In Girls on the Edge, psychologist and physician Leonard Sax argues that many girls today have a brittle sense of self-they may look confident and strong on the outside, but they're fragile within. Sax offers the tools we need to help them become independent and confident women, and provides parents with practical tips on everything from helping their daughter limit her time on social media, to choosing a sport, to nurturing her spirit through female-centered activities.

Compelling and inspiring, Girls on the Edge points the way to a new future for today's girls and young women.

So amazing

This book is great. It discusses not just what we do that’s not the right choice for our daughters but also recommend solutions. I love how it tied the other books in when appropriate. I will buy things in hard copy and read again. Be able to take notes and seeing the words also help the data to sink it. Amazing work. Thank you.

A must read for all parents

Even if you are not the parent of girls, being a parent in general or interacting with children in any way makes this a must read book of information!
Also, there are many conflicting parenting books out there, though this is well researched, you may not agree with every statement. That’s ok! The more informed the better when it comes to our relationships as we coexist here on earth!

A must read!

I refrained myself from starting this book mo the ago because of a bad review. It kept showing up and I’m glad it did because it’s very informative, serious and most importantly written with the clear intention of keeping girls safe. Please do not avoid this book, let your opinions be challenged by an expert.

Wonderfully helpful. Surprising.

This book was suggested to me by Dr Leonard Sax himself who took the time to answer a request for help from a complete stranger. Although I didn’t quite find the answer to the questions I was looking for, I found the answers to questions I didn’t know I had. Even about myself as an ex girl, now woman.

This book me want to be a mother of a daughter, something I’ve feared all my life, due in large to the relationship I had with my mother in the past.

The surprising parts were, firstly receiving so much insight from a man, about issues that seem so deeply female. And secondly, shaking my head at the spirituality chapter, and gradually seeing myself concerted to a new way of thinking. (Not converted to religion, mind you).

So I guess in a round about way, I found the answer to my question. And with a little, patience, time, and luck I’ll be able to put this newly found wisdom into practice.

Thank you.
