About this listen

"That which doesn't kill me is going to wish it had."

Do you love hunting monsters? Dark worlds? Swords and sorcery?

Alex is a Glitch Hunter, member of a house of monster hunters that possess mysterious bracers allowing them to see the world with the interface of a video game. Even with the edge that offers, most Glitch Hunters die young, thrown by quests into areas of deadly conflict. Alex's first quest draws him to a city with a grisly past, and unless he can discern truth from lies in time, an even darker future.

I finished this book in three days worth of lunch breaks and free time. if I didn't have a job I would've finished it sooner. Very good read.

Very engaging.

Would enjoy more books in this series. I was hesitant to pick it up based on the summary because it sounded slightly bland/generic but it was actually pretty good. I grabbed this book based completely on the good reviews so I thought I'd leave some info for others looking at this book.
Some things that may help people decide:
LitRPG Yes but limited, no stat point allocation, but does have basic damage breakdowns and choosing skills/abilities, no building or crafting so far
Magic Yes, plenty
Tech Yes but so far has been blended into the magic
Violence Yes, tons
18+ Lots of adult themes but no excessively graphic scenes
Hope this helps, and hope others enjoy this book also.

Worth a credit

Another great read from Skyler Grant. I really hope he writes more in this fascinating, litRPG-like universe!

Loved it!

Overall great book, I almost gave it full stars and the only reason i didnt really is because of heard some really good books in my time. Honestly though, I havent heard many books that really hit all my check boxes of a good read like this. I def recommend if you are into litrpg's and like a bit of adventure.

Pros: Author firstly, thank you for not making me cringe with a ridiculous amount of sexual encounters. I've listened to too many books recently were the main character is just sleeping with everyone like some kind of cheesy porno. There were lots of jokes, the girls were a tad forward and there were a few encounters but not cringy. You have no idea how much I appreciate that. I think I attribute most of the forwardness to the fact that almost every character is a little off theyre rocker. Second, quite an interesting take on leveling and exp where there are different trees based on what he kills. Personally I would totally farmed those cave thingys for like a week to get some physical enhancements. I kinda wish that he could use white too and get some divine powers but i get it..ok cuz hes black in nature. Also there was an interesting development of characters and the story was interesting as well. I was defiantly not bored nor annoyed with the main character. Yea he has amnesia but he wasnt stupid plus he makes unique and morally ambigious decisions. He was not the cookie cutter personality of a good guy. Glaive did good things over all but much was rather grey. Loved the ending because of that. There was a lot of intrigue as well in the plot; many questions that id love to know the answer to. Final note, and this is possibly a spoiler here but the part were one character was seen with a holster..denoting she had guns...please please please let him have a gun. Yea the sword and hammer was kinda good for the well rounded hunter. But man would a side arm be cool. lol

Cons: Please give us more world building. I know you were taking it slow in this book with that probably because you didn't want to hit us with it all at once, but man what i wouldn't give for just a sit down of ten minutes to lay out the world, kingdoms and factions. Just in a brief list or something or anything. Next, the fight scenes. Theres nothing exactly wrong here its just that the main character dodges about as well as a brick house. If hes gonna do that give him platemail lol but otherwise hes gonna have to try and not get hit at some point in his career...seriously. One last con is that there were an unaverage number of female characters in the mix. This wasn't one of those cheesy harem books and yea female characters are great and all but lets be a little more representative of reality here. Come on now. You do have the one other dude (Pike) thats a hunter tagging along and helping but at some point you gotta throw in a good old pal or two in the mix ya know. Otherwise it just kinda gets weird..

Thank you and please keep going. I may take a peek at some of your other books because of this one.

Pretty good, Pretty good. Author please read.

A interesting take on the genera. Mostly action packed slows down in the last hour or so. Not a fan of so much introspection don't get me wrong its need for the story but at the end several minutes per chapter is taken to examine the mcs feels.

Amazing lit-RPG adventure in a dark, well constructed fantasy world with a touch of nice humor. Some elements remind me strongly of Witcher (the game more than the books).
Really looking forwards to a sequel.

Great read

pros:
The story is a unique one, which is refreshing. It should be noted that this book seems aimed at an older audience, but is not gratuitous. The combat system is a new take which I have yet to see. A very pleasant surprise is that the MC is not over powered at all. In fact he nearly died several times. This gives a sense of importance to his decisions. The narration was pretty spot on with a wide range of voices used.

Cons:
There could have been better character development. The characters are by no means shallow, or boring, but I feel the book would had been more engrossing if more time was spent developing a few of the characters that were introduced. The same could be said for more world building. There is so much room for world building that the author just did not take advantage of. Maybe in the next book though?

overall:
The book was enjoyable, and full of action. It was little shy on character development, and world building, but a solid listen overall (thanks to the narrator). I would definitely recommend this book.

A good start.
