Publisher's summary

The Goddess Samantha, new domains of deific influence primed for the world below, charges ahead to kindle the fires of a new order. Questions of her true origins and significance abound, but the path forward is the same as it is for any mortal: one foot in front of the other. Buried in the dirt is the call of risk, reward, and sacrifice.

Time to dig deep, baby.

Follow along with her and her Devoted through the building of a mystery cult, the creation of supernatural Servitors, and the discovery of new powers and power levels. Persistent threats and new enemies are there to hinder, and the past haunts them all the while, but the future is the domain of Fate and the Fortuneteller knows what is written in the stars.

Less goddess

It seemed to me that the godess is moving to be more a mortal than trying to be a god.

A fun story with a good pace.

I was pleasantly surprised to find virtually no filler content and that the story was able to keep a solid pace without over powering the MC. Super happy with the improvements made from the first book and fully expect the series to continue this way.

adorable!!

This is a fitting book 2 for sure! I love how Samantha is trying so hard to do right by her people. It is very fun to see how she expands her powers, gets to be on the planet, and even rescues Bast's mom (sorta). Sad situation that, but a great learning experience for Samantha and her followers.

This series continues to BLOW me away with the new directions and the fun POV. I have never had the POV of a god before, and the author is taking this down a fantastic fun direction! I saw the only other review was negative about Dart, but I for one adored Dart as a character. Brought plenty of hijinks, even if they were annoying from time to time... all characters are supposed to have arcs to let them grow!

Look forward to anything else by this author!

Good but Thirsty

I enjoyed the story even though I think the plot has drifted in a more romance genre direction. The romantic development felt literally forced by fate which felt awkward for all characters and readers involved. Its ultimately fine, but when the book zeros in on romance counter to the first book's feel, the payout better be a slam dunk. It wasn't this time.

Worth the time

This story was another excellent continuation of this series. It shows how the characters have matured, which, in my opinion, allows the listening audience to feel invested in each of the characters' storylines.

Love the idea of the story

I’m going to be taking a break from it. I personally find the MC alil pitiful. Its mentioned that she’s a goddess but theres all the self pity (atlases that what is comes across to me) I let it go in the first book thinking it would get better in the next but she hasn’t changed any. She has the small amount of actually acting like a goddess but goes back to the self pity and self doubt.

Sigh.... I, really didn't like Azure.

Alright let's do the good parts first..... EVERYTHING THAT WASN"T AZURE!!!!!! Seriously if you take Azure out of the book, which honestly wouldn't actually be all that hard, this was easily one of the best sequels to a series i have seen in a while. Even the male Narrator who i had trouble with last book was much improved, still not a fan of all of his accents which generally just sound like drunk Europeans to me, but at least the sound quality was improved enough that i could actually understand him this time!!! I absolutely LOVE all of Sammy's servitors, they are so weird, whimsical and hilarious, each has a very unique and vibrant personality that will have you eager to see what she comes up with next, at least if your not an overly serious joykiller like SOME people..... They are hands down the ultimate high light of the book. There is also plenty of great action and world building that left me wanting MOAR!!! All in all i have no problem getting the next book, despite what i am about to say about the romantic interest. I can't wait to see what happens next!!!!
Now that that is out of the way, let's talk about Azure and Sammy.... SPOILER WARNING!!!!!
I will preface this with saying that i am not really into the whole awkward virgin thing, feels a bit to childish for me. So i do have something of a bias to dislike romance that falls into that particular troupe. That said... i really didn't get the sudden seeming Axure love. She is barely even in the first book, and honestly doesn't have much of a role in this book either. Especially for some one who is supposed to be the great love that spans time and space and all that. There is very little to no real chemistry between them, to be honest i kind of just thought she would turn out to be some crazy fanatic character for how she acts. I didn't get love vibes, i got obsession. Frankly speaking Redberry, Zaddy, and Bast all had far more chemistry with Sammy then Axure. Azure just felt sudden, forced, and completely out of nowhere. If i had to guess, i would say that the author came up with the Axure plot line AFTER they finished the 1st book and didn't set it up very well in post. I don't know, Sammy was having these kind of hot flirtations with other characters, then suddenly BAM a melodramatic romance that felt completely out of place. Romance is not really something i feel like you should make into a plot twist if you want it to be good. it also seemed like Azure's character had a dramatic shift from jaded and broken sex slave, to awkward teen girl midway in this book. Again i am not all that interested in YA teen drama at this stage of my life, and it is even worse when people who really shouldn't start acting that way. It didn't feel cute to me, it felt manipulative and preditory, sending up all kinds of red flags. Eh, LOL maybe i am just a bitter shipper who liked the Sammy Zaddy/Sammy Redberry dynamics far better. Or i am just some one who enjoys when romance and sex aren't taken so reverently, at least far more than the GREAT LOVE OF THE AGES drama troupes. Either way it wasn't really enough to put me off the series just knock it down my favs list a couple points. I still recommend the book series and as i said am looking forward to more from this author.
