About this listen

Four strong women. Two love stories. One obsessed heiress.

When winning thoroughbred trainer Joan Caulder comes up short an exercise rider at Churchill Downs, she hires freelance gallop girl Cailen Eagleton who, on the first day in the saddle, shows she can ride like a dream as well as distract her new boss with bold confidence and a rear end made to be framed in chaps. But Cailen believes all horse trainers are egomaniacs who sacrifice horses' interests for the sake of money and prestige.

Imagine the L-Word meets the American turf, with a high-stakes ending, and you'll have the feel of this audiobook.

Desperate For A Real Narrator

I tried really hard to enjoy the audio but between the ridiculously slow pace of the audio and the amateurish reader I just couldn't get into it. The sole appealing character in the book was the Hispanic stable girl Bree, who was attending college at night to improve her life. Perhaps it was only due to the narrator but both the lead characters seemed compellingly uninteresting. I have to admit I gave up prior to finishing the book but I don't see any way that the ending could have saved it. As much as I wanted to like this one I just couldn't.

Good story. Bad reader

I enjoyed the story a lot but the reader was terrible. It's a shame because the story was good.

Worst narrator ever!

If you can get past this god awful narrator , and good luck with that than you are a better person than I .
She is terrible on every level , this is like hearing a one woman play done by a six year old reading ( badly ) from que cards , I can forgive a lot especially when the writing good , but nothing will save this . It's a real same I think I could have enjoyed it ,the book had some good parts but it is just painful...don't bother .....Audible should be ashamed for letting this one slip past...

Some one knows horses and lesbians!

Would you listen to Grand Theft Equine: Lesbian Fiction again? Why?

Yes, because it's a great story and for the silly reason I live in Louisville KY and have spent many an afternoon at Churchill Downs betting races. I enjoyed this behind the stables look at the races with a lesbian cast and fun characters. I enjoyed there interaction and how the racing industry works.

What did you like best about this story?

The strong female leads in the story and slow love story that happened between the two main characters set against the back drop of mostly Churchill Downs but not only there, It really was a wonderful and funny story. I loved the part were they steal the horse back to save it's life.

Which scene was your favorite?

The part where they steal the horse back to save it's life. It was just crazy enough to be a really story.

If you could take any character from Grand Theft Equine: Lesbian Fiction out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I think her name is Rosa or Maria (Sorry I can remember her name) The Hispanic stable worker that was the main bosses like best friend. I got the feeling not only does she know where all the bodies are buried and that she is hot between the sheets to women. But she could keep you laughing until you busted something inside.

Any additional comments?

Great story, A + , both funny and heart warming but I loved the inside scoop on the racing industry and how it works.

Kind of a waste of my time...

What disappointed you about Grand Theft Equine: Lesbian Fiction?

Everything?! The narrator wasn't that great or easy to listen to. It was confusing in the beginning getting the characters straight, so to speak. For me, the story never really developed. The women fell in love too fast. The depth of their relationships wasn't believable.

What could Margo Moon have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I'm not sure. There was some interesting horse info in there, but the romantic scenes were lacking.

How could the performance have been better?

The voices all sounded too similar to me.

Any additional comments?

The only positive thing I can take away is the fact that this is the first audio book I've listened to where the author addresses women being on their period. We are human after all. So that was nice to see.

Horrible narrator!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Different narrator

Would you ever listen to anything by Margo Moon again?

Maybe

Would you be willing to try another one of Tret Fure’s performances?

No

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not that I can think of.

Any additional comments?

It's the first book I've ever purchased that I cannot finish. Listening to the narrator read monotone words is like listening to a child read a book.
