About this listen

In the heart of the catacombs, evil stirs.

Sarah Pearson is lured into the eerie depths of the Paris Catacombs after seeing an unsettling video. On it, the ghostly appearance of an old friend beckons her into the darkness. But the Catacombs hold more secrets than Sarah anticipates, and the shadows within are not all from the dead.

Sarah's friends--David Ritter and Reverend Rachel Quinn--find out about her perilous journey and move to stop her. Racing against time, they must find and rescue their friend from the grip of the underworld. In doing so, they are confronted with chilling legends of restless souls and malevolent entities that have waited centuries for the likes of Sarah to venture into their realm.

As Sarah becomes further entrenched in the maze below, a perilous game of cat and mouse ensues. For David and Rachel, time is of the essence, because if Sarah is possessed by the entities lurking beneath Paris, then the whole world will teeter on the brink of the apocalypse.

This eighth installment of the Haunted series might just be the most terrifying yet. Between the horrific entities and claustrophobic environment of the catacombs, this book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time!

Another home run for Mountford!

the story is well written. the narration is fun and fast pace. however my biggest complaint is that we are expected to believe in a forth thinking calculating source of evil that manipulates everything in its path for its own good. however, there's no opposing Force that is calculating for good and intervening on that behalf. the thought of a all-knowing calculated source of evil without an opposing force is hopeless. that promise of all known evil without a Force for good that is operating on behalf of humanity. the fact that they had David b ordained when he has no faith in God and does not understand the Bible or know God is unrealistic. and I am not sure how a female Reverend is working for the Catholic church. these are minor issues but for me they speak to the knowledge and the technical issues that just stick in my craw

lost hope

One of THE best books in this series. Scary. Detailed. Perfectly written. Best narrator of all time. Just obsessed. Can’t wait for the next one!

Another excellent story in the Haunted saga. I enjoyed it. Narration by Hannibal Hills was excellent. I was given this book free for an honest review.

I'll be honest, I love this series but I thought that book 7 was mostly unimportant filler and was worried that the series would be extended more than it should be. Book 8 has proven me wrong, and it was a great addition to a scary, intense, and dreadful (in a good way!) series.

Great Addition to the Series

The narrator was terrible. Especially when he tried to do women’s voices. Every sentence has the same tone. Loud and alarming. Too bad. The story had such potential

This had so much potential.

This was so bad. The narrator sucks!!! Had to quit listening. Not at all interesting.

Awful

The story wasn't bad, but the narration was terrible. The entire narration
was overdone and it seemed like the characters were always yelling. I would recommend the book but stay away from the audiobook.

Read the book instead

I cannot even finish the book. The narration is difficult to listen to. The "women's" voices increase loudly and words are drawn out to the pointvof whining.
