Publisher's summary

Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of hiding a broken heart by throwing himself into his career as a college professor. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd.

But six years haven’t come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd’s obituary, he can’t keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for...but she is not Natalie. Whoever the mourning widow is, she’s been married to Todd for almost two decades, and with that fact, everything Jake thought he knew about the best time of his life - a time he has never gotten over - is turned completely inside out.

As Jake searches for the truth, his picture-perfect memories of Natalie begin to unravel. Mutual friends of the couple either can’t be found or don’t remember Jake. No one has seen Natalie in years. Jake’s search for the woman who broke his heart, who lied to him, soon puts his very life at risk as it dawns on him that the man he has become may be based on a carefully constructed fiction.

Harlan Coben once again delivers a shocking novel that deftly explores the power of past love and the secrets and lies that such love can hide.

Pretty good (Abridged version)

I prefer the unabridged because I love the detail that is lost in abridged versions, but I also prefer Scott Brick.
Interesting story line, a little far fetched, but it is a novel and that is how they roll.

Not my favorite

What I like—love and admire- in Coben’s books, is the very complicated multi-plot narrative. After “Tell No one”, I found Six Years a little flat. Not crazy about the dialogues either. Also a bit flat and repetitive. And a couple of loose ends in the plot. But I still read the whole book in one sitting.

Lots of twists and turns kept me in suspense!

Would you consider the audio edition of Six Years to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked being in suspense wondering what's coming next and why. It definitely was NOT predictable; I loved that too!

What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like the pace Scott Brick reads at.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did not have any extreme reactions.

Any additional comments?

Because I liked this book so much, I bought another book by Harlan Coben. I may have found a new author to follow.

Too Predictable

Main character fails to make obvious conclusions while the reader can predict almost every turn in the story except the ending. Scott Brick narrated marvelously as usual.

Another great Coben book and Brick performance

I’ve enjoyed Harlan Coben for years. The only thing that makes his books more entertaining is a great narrator. Scott Brick delivers.

Not his best

Not one of his best works. Lots of twists and storylines to keep up. I love his writings that I usually can't put down but this one did t keep me riveted

Disappointing!

What happened!? This doesn't sound like Harlan Coben at all. It reads sappy and weak with only glimpses of what makes Coben's characters likeable (if flawed). This guy's flawed all right - he's an idiot!! I didn't hate it but because I was expecting so much I can't recommend it to Harlan Coben fans. Sorry HC. If you didn't set the bar so high....

Unpredictable

I enjoyed every minute of this book. It’s a real treat when you discover a book with a plot unlike one you’ve ever read. Some stories can be so predictable, and then “Six Years” comes along. I was guessing the whole time, but I never anticipated the plot twist of this book. I enjoyed listening to the voice of the reader as he articulated such that I clearly understood each word (which I can’t say for some other readers).
