What to do when parenting gets painfully complicated

Are your adult child's mental, emotional, and physical health issues driving you to despair? Are you tempted to bail your son or daughter out of yet another impossible circumstance?

Following her best-selling book Setting Boundaries®with Your Adult Children, Allison Bottke offers an in-depth guide to help you connect with your adult child and to build your confidence, knowledge, and hope, as your child walks through challenging situations, such as drug addiction, mental and emotional disabilities, military trauma and PTSD, personality disorders, financial trouble, depression and bipolar, divorce, incarceration, and so much more.

Take a step back, and let this book help you develop effective strategies to truly help your adult child - without sacrificing your sanity.

About face from Boundaries with you Adult Children

It's okay. I like the perspective coming from further down the road of the author's journey with her continually troubled son. May they both find ultimate peace.

Reconnecting

I found this book extremely helpful in repairing my relationship with my youngest daughter post divorce. I've listened to the book several times. The process is not easy, but the steps and methods worked for me.

Troubled parents relieved by this book

I've been dealing with the troubled son since use 12. Being military parent I've been pretty much strict with rules and lacked the ability to love and generally in care with compassion and sincerity enough for this new generation as well as my son in this new generation to feel like they exist for a reason and that we love them sincerely beyond all belief. Unfortunately, no matter how many times we say we love him no matter how many things we do for them come no matter how much money we provide them for their life, it doesn't seem to be enough and/or correct. Allison helps explain the boundaries we should set as well as that it is not just our mistakes but is their mistakes as well as their responsibility to be in adult based on the general foundations they've been provided. When such foundations are not remembered she provides guidance and how to establish them. When rules are broken and Tolerances have been exceeded, She explains how God Has already planned to help take care of in a dress to situations for future that is wonderful for both parties. Unfortunately, us parents do not know when to get out of the way. Allison provides a guideline and tools to do just that as well as to know when to stay involved in which direction a turn. I highly encourage you to read this book or get an audible of this book do so over and over before it's too late. I just hope, that I'm not too late before my son chooses the easy way out of his heavy Darkened depression.

Too much religious preaching

Way too much religion in this book. I believe in God, but I couldn't finish this book because there was too much of it.

BEWARE: Bottom line…. Get a diagnosis and put you kid on a pill!

Not a fan. I believe Gods Word is the answer to our needs and getting to root causes.
