About this listen

Read by the author.

Pinky Cole—founder of the wildly successful restaurant chain Slutty Vegan—takes you back to your moments that seemed hopeless to help you discover how filled with possibility they really were.

We've all been told we can't do it. That we're not enough. That we grew up in the wrong neighborhood or had the wrong parents or made the wrong choices. That we can't be anything but a failure. . .What they don't tell you is that every obstacle and mess-up in your life has only prepared you for success.

Pinky has spent her life dreaming of financial security. After a fire destroyed the New York City restaurant she put everything into building, she was back to square one, working hard for someone else's dream. Her life has been a series of lessons that have given her the tools to build a business that drew the attention of some of the world's top investors.

In I Hope You Fail, Pinky tells her own story to empower you in yours. She'll share her ten counter-intuitive hopes for you, including:

  • I hope you don't believe in yourself. . .because the journey to discovering who you truly are is the key to unlocking the life you want.
  • I hope you don't get that raise. . .because money doesn't equal respect, but it can show you how much you are truly valued at work.
  • I hope the customers don't show up. . .so you can have the feedback you need to reevaluate your approach and find one that works.

Filled with practical advice and motivational gut-punches, I Hope You Fail will teach you how to learn from your WTF moments and find fuel in your losses.

I have to re-listen to this book!

She drops SO MANY gems about business! I realized around chapter 3 or 4 that I’m going to have to give it a second listen just to write everything down! This book is a blessing to me because it reaffirms a lot of the ways I’ve thought or felt about starting my entrepreneurial journey.

Very motivating

This is great for those who need a push to get started, and Pinky does a very good job of explaining the value of failure. It’s something aspiring business owners or anybody looking to accomplish anything hard will eventually learn, but the best lessons are learned when you mess up. Unfortunately… haha.

On another note: I know how hard it is to get these books sold, and it’s a hustle. Check mine out if you get a chance. Simply put, you did it right and I learned a lot from watching your marketing tactics!

Helpful for new business owners

Good book. I think it is more helpful for new business owners but there are a few nuggets for ones who have owned their own business for awhile.

When your vision moves you!

We live in an era where our highlights and the soft life is what’s overly promoted on the social media.

This book is a refreshing reminder of vision, purpose, and how moving with inspired action will shift the entire trajectory of your life and the life of others but will also be met with failure. The best part of failure it’s in an opportunity to learn, grow, extend yourself grace, and relearn again!

Pinky thank you for living the life of your dreams, sharing your “failures” and inspiring us to do the same. As an entrepreneur cut from a similar cloth, your girl is on is on fire! 🔥🔥🔥

It’s great she shared experiences from a business owner perspective that new entrepreneurs wouldn’t have been told
