A world on the precipice of the apocalypse. A secret forged in the flames of war. A chance to start over. For John Sutton, only one of those three things matters. Alec began his 18th birthday with the temple monks. By day's end, he discovers he possesses magical abilities. Except his magic is unique. He doesn't require grimoires and incantations to cast spells. Alec's magic is entirely natural. He can, somehow, absorb the elements from objects and manipulate them according to his will. This power is incredible, but difficult to master. If he's going to learn how to use his natural magic, it'll take the tutelage of Archmage Diamondspear, one of the most adept magic users in the kingdom.

Without so much as a warning, humanity in its entirety was suddenly moved to another dimension. Every person, without exception. But this new world, with all its opportunities and gifts of wondrous abilities, was a stadium. A deadly arena of an unimaginable scale. And humanity was to be its latest gladiators. Every man, woman, and child was given a weapon and ordered to fight. Stuck in this dimension without a way out, only two options existed for the would-be hunters: Fight with monsters to complete the many trials ahead, or perish.

getting repetitive.
pretty much just fighting for fighting's sake. this whole book had the feel of a random encounter in a RPG. does nothing to move the story. just look and experience. I get the impression that the author is just putting out anything that will get him paid. the book is not bad, just feel that you could skip this whole book and start the next and not be to confused.

Overall the story was pretty good but I was hoping to see/hear more about the other characters. There was a good mix of drama and battles making the overall story enjoyable and fast paced. I need more Mina in the story but looks like next book the gang will really be back together again with some new additions.
