About this listen

A Romantic Times Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Virginia Henley crafts sultry tales of seduction set during the High Middle Ages.

Strong-willed and free spirited, lady-in-waiting Marjory de Warenne long ago gave her body and soul to the charming and beguiling Earl of Warwick, Guy de Beauchamp. But her family never approved of the pairing. Now, on the eve of war and an arranged marriage to another suitor, Jory yearns for the man who could make all of her dreams come true.

I liked this book...did not LOVE but liked it very much. I did not like certain parts (cant give anything away so dont want to be specific)..but you knew there was still a happy ending to come, there always is. I like the length but felt the story was a little drawn out over a long period of time...Overall, a good buy and as always i like the narrator..i have read reviews where some do not but i like her.

Enjoyable

WOW I laugh and cried and I have to admit I blushed a little during some of the love scenes. I have listed to this twice already! Must Listen

when i read the reviews i was reluctant to purchase this audiobook. However it was an epic story!
A rich historical story . If there is inaccuracies , well it is fiction. There is also sensual and sweet romance. The Narrator's voice even lulled my little shih tzus, they wagged their tales when I played the audio!

I loved it!

Not your typical historical romance, this story has strong, passionate characters filled conviction about their beliefs. When the love story didn't unfold as planned I was stunned, but didn't lose interest in the story. The author wove a compelling storyline into historical fact and that added to the story's captivating effect. I highly recommend this to fans of Jo Beverly and Linda Needham whose historical romances tend to have more "weight" than most.

Captivating!

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

anti climatic

What three words best describe Jenny Sterlin???s voice?

precise, authentic, varied

What would have made this romance irresistible?

Less wordy with description and background events

Any additional comments?

The story has potential but found myself fast forwarding 1/3 the way through the second part.

Too Drawn Out

Love Virginia Henley, a fantastic historian. If you do some research, many parts of her stories are authentic. Beautiful descriptions of England, Scotland and exciting heroes. The best of the best romance novels there are. Please record more! She is a prolific author!

I was pleasantly surprised with this book. It definately fits the romance category, but it also has a good story and lots of history.

Pleasantly Surprised

This book was well written and had the ability to keep my interest peaked and even if the steamy chapters weren't written in the story line the story was interesting and had me captivated. If I don't have to work hard at imagining being the people described in the story , I'm all over it. This was that well written. I just wish she would write a 48 hour novel...(over 100 chapters) lolK

kept me fixed to keep listening or reading

What disappointed you about Infamous?

Too much confusion too early for these characters

What do you think your next listen will be?

Lee Child's book (Bad Luck) was excellence, maybe I'll listen to something of his, again. I'm a romantic, at heart, but I love detective, fbi, cia stuff, lately or David Balducci.

How could the performance have been better?

To have let the main character stand out more

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment because I was looking forward reading Henley again. Back in the early 90sI'd like her story telling.

Any additional comments?

I really love my Kindle Fire and what I love most is "Audible.com" because there are times when I can't sit and read, but I can listen out loud or use my headphone. I LOVE AUDIBLEBOOKS.

main characters were too busy, too much jump aroun
