Publisher's summary

Everything should be fine.

The Brid is dead. I'm the new Seelie king. And Lonan is with me, safe from the Unseelie queen—his mother—and terrible brothers.

But it's not fine. Nothing is fine.

I can't seem to let go of my old life, even as this new one—and my new responsibilities—overwhelm me. Something is wrong with Lonan. He's closing himself off even more. He's quiet and distant, and every day, the rift between us seems to get bigger, no matter what I do.

I know he wants to go and take his crown. I know he doesn't feel right here in this place that's too hot, and too crowded, and too different from his home., But I can't bring myself to let him go. I've already lost everything once. I can't stand the thought of losing him.

But something is happening to me, and I don't know how to stop it. I can feel myself changing, becoming something uglier, darker, further and further from who I once was.

Lonan is the only thing stopping me from getting swallowed up completely by whatever now possesses me, but my desperation to keep him close just seems to be driving him further away. And that scares me more than anything.

King of Death is the final installment in Folk, an MM fae romance trilogy about a dark fae assassin prince and a mortal thrown into the cruel world of the Folk. HEA guaranteed. For mature listeners.

Love this series and I'm not a fantasy lover

Too much repetition in this one. Some of the story lines weren't as well written as the past books. Lonans ultimate meeting with his mother went as expected. There were plenty of chances for a FU but easy as pie. And Ashes apparent problems becoming ruler weren't so believable either. Just expected more from such an amazing writer.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series.

It was well done, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Joel’s narration & Lily’s writing are a perfect match. Great series.

Keep your tissues close

The folk series is an amazing Rollercoaster of deep love and heartfelt ach. Written beautifully, this calidascope of well flushed out colorful characters will leave you chewing your lip for more.

This trilogy is a ever well paced adventure into the land of The Folk as you are introduced to this other realm right along side our endearing protagonists Ash and Lonan. You will find yourself cheering their victory's, weeping at their losses, laughing with their joy, and heating up with their passion.

This is an adventure you surely do not want to miss out.

Satisfying Wrap-up

I really enjoyed the conclusion to this series, even though it wasn’t my favorite of the three. The ending wrapped up everything nicely, answering all the lingering questions I had. I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars. The story was engaging, and while there were a few moments that felt a bit repetitive, the overall experience was satisfying. If you’ve read the first two books, I definitely recommend finishing the journey with this one!

The Heart

I enjoy this Author immensely. Lily has the amazing ability to build a world and give life to interesting characters.
This story made me cry and laugh and get a little hot under the skin. It's an amazing adventure from start to finish and the characters growth was endearing.
I both read and listened to this book, to the series actually because I'm obsessed with stories like this.

Fantastic Trilogy!

Lily Mayne wraps up her Folk trilogy with all the different threads in the saga wrapped up quite satisfactorily. There's a bit more gore and torture wielded when Ash and Lonan make all the bad fae characters experience the consequences for their cruel and evil actions. Ash got a little too angsty with his inner turmoil in the first third of the book, but fortunately it didn't last. I thought the final pieces of the book were well done, especially the self exploration Ash had to do to fulfill his bargain with giant serpent guarding the mysterious Hebrides island.
Joel Leslie was fabulous as always, emoting the character voices with good distinction.
This series is well worth the credits if you enjoy well written romantic fantasy sagas.
