About this listen

Silla Nordvig survived the Road of Bones.

In the aftermath of her journey, her dreams of a simple life have been shattered. Beaten, betrayed, and reeling from the revelation of her true name, she flees Kopa with Reynir Galtung, the ruthless leader of the Bloodaxe Crew. Silla soon discovers Rey has been keeping secrets of his own, and they're forced into hiding together.

Stuck in a shield-home with the murderous man she thought she knew, Silla forms a new plan: master the magic flowing through her veins to save her sister. But before she can do that, Silla must face her most formidable opponent yet—her inner demons.

Saga Volsik has nothing to lose.

They've murdered her family, stolen her throne, and now, they expect her to marry their son. When she discovers her foster mother has been keeping the biggest secret of all, everything changes.

Saga's goal: dismantle Queen Signe's plans piece by piece. The only problem? The handsome Zagadkian dignitary who knows far too many of her secrets.

Meanwhile, dark threads continue to weave themselves through Íseldur as magic long thought dead begins to wake. In this follow-up to The Road of Bones, both women will need to find the strength to step into their destiny and stop chaos from sweeping across the land.

Return to the Kingdom of Íseldur, where enemies become lovers, and dark secrets hide around each corner. This installment digs deeper into Íseldur's forbidden magic and the simmering attraction growing between two unlikely couples.

So good!! I didn't want it to end, even better than the 1st! I'm invested and the cliffhanger on this has me tormented with the exception of knowing I'll have a good excuse to reread these. 😁

So Good!!

I enjoyed reading the first book of the Ashen series and honestly did not expect the second to be this good! The world building was good, the plot was intricate and interesting and I loved the complexity of the characters and how their lives are inter-woven. There was enough tension, mystery, plot twists and romance to keep me captivated so much so that I can't wait to see how the story develops in book 3.

Better than the first!

Love the story, the characters and the audio acting! I love the twists and turns. I live that each story has so much content and detail, it makes the world so real. I love the cadence of the action and romance. I cannot wait for the next book! Please hurry! You are both so talented, I can't wait to see where this story goes. 😍

Such an addictive story!

This was sooo good!! Rarely ever do I love a second book more than the first in a series, I might like them same but, usually the first is what I remember more of. But this was better. The story got soo much deeper, the main characters are now imprinted on my mind forever!
I love a series, especially one that is more about the plot. This is an adventure that is really just beginning. Think Throne of Glass meets the Witcher.
There is some spice, but not too much, and what spice there is, it is done WELL. I like the journey, and would much rather a hard slow burn where there is yearning and almost kissing and banter back and forth well before the actual act happens.

I can’t get enough of Rurik and Saga! Specifically Rurik! He’s probably my dream book boyfriend. He’s arrogant, but caring and serves those that cant fend for themselves. There at the end Saga got on my nerves, but I get it. The next book has to have some build up and her opening back up will be another great slow burn.
Silla/Eisa and Rey are the perfect match. They remind me of another power couple in an epic fantasy. Eisa is still learning her powers and what she is capable of and Rey supporting her through it is DELICIOUS.
I am excited to read more about Sagas powers and what she is capable of. I can’t wait to see how they take on Ivar and Signey(spelling).
100 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This series is the easiest 5⭐️ rating i have given in the last hundred books I’ve read. I enjoyed every second of reading this book. The character development, the plot, the relationships, everything was done beautifully.

100/10!

Can’t judge this story just yet characters are easy to love and feel for. It’s worth your time for that reason alone

Decent book

What a refreshing, smart, and beautifully written series! (I get so tired of immature, annoying female main characters and gratuitous use of the word f***!) I couldn't put it down, and now I'm stuck waiting for the next book!! Perfect balance of action, romance, angst, and spice! I had a hard time finding much interest in the Saga/Cas storyline (partly because the voice of Cas was so atrocious), but it started picking up towards the end. The reader did a good job with most characters, although she tends to speak so quietly at times that I was forced to rewind in an effort to understand her. That, and her "Russian" accent for Cas is appalling, making him sound whiny and often unintelligible. Maybe dial it back for the next book... If you loved the Blood and Ash series, you'll definitely like this too!

Great Book! Great Series!

I listened to the first book on a whim and am now addicted. Book 3 cannot come out fast enough. The world is fascinating, the characters are all interesting and well rounded and storyline keeps me on the edge.

Great World Building
