About this listen

There are some things you simply can’t escape. For Van, it’s family.

Out among the stars, his cousin, Carter Yost, drags Van and his team into a criminal ring run by the High Doctor—a dangerous con artist with delusions of grandeur. Working from the abandoned world of Pathway, the High Doctor has created a cult, stealing a fortune from the fearful, sick, and scared.

If there’s one thing Van hates, it’s a bully, and the High Doctor has his full attention. But in order to crush the criminal cult, Van needs bigger, better armor—and that comes with a price.

The rarest metals cost money, and that means doing a few dirty jobs in order to pay for the tools of his trade. Van’s got the will. His team has the skill.

Now, he has to find a way. And the way will surely involve war.

Not my favorite JN Chaney/Terry Margery book but still dam good!

I like this book! There is a sense of a massive universe that just waiting to be explored and we are scraping the surface. Jeffrey Krafts does a good job and I have no complaints. The story is complex which is both good and bad, in my opinion. It seems there are a lot of storylines, factions, and governments that I’m having trouble keeping track of. I like that the story isn’t so linear but there are other storylines that abrubfdly start and stop which don’t seem to be addressed. Either way I will continue to listen as I still enjoy the series!

Solid continuation of the story

Legacy of Stars is a solid continuation of the story. It is simple formula of military space opera, and it works - just a right amount of drama, comedy, and fights!

Spy vs. Spy

Van and his crew are being challenged by the evil forces in the universe. But there seems to be corruption in Peacemakers Guilde. Excellent story by J.N. Chaney + Terry Maggert. And the many voices from, Jeffrey Kafer. Can't wait to start next book.

Entertaining

I don’t really read Scifi books, but gave the Backyard starship a try before summer. I really enjoy the car actors and story line of the series. I can’t wait to read the next book.

better than the last one.

I guess this installment is better than the last book, but still feels like not much is getting done.

The adventure continues

I like books that don't take themselves too seriously, and this series is a fun adventure. The main character confronts some ethical issues along the way, and they end up making some challenging decisions. Overall a fun listen.

Still going strong

Normally by this time into a series the stories are stale and the characters have become caricatures of themselves, but this series just keeps on going -- fresh and well-researched. Not very bloody, not a romance; just good entertainment. And the narrator is ah-mazing.
