About this listen

From the very first hour Cayden had set foot inside the massive, real-life game that was the Tower of Babel, nothing had gone according to plan. A unique skill, a handful of new friends, and the wrath of an ultra-wealthy, patricidal lunatic were just some of the complications to his best laid plans.

So why was he even surprised when a special event trapped him, his companions, and dozens of other players inside the tower, squaring them off against a murderous army of stone-faced warriors?

If they are to have any hope of survival, they'll have to leverage not only their own personal power, but the power of the Elan as well. There are castles to be built, armies to be raised, and one real question to be posed: How good is a self-proclaimed RPG nerd going to be at turn-based strategy?

Need book 3

I loved it and seriously was caught off guard when it ended suddenly. This is a great series and I am looking forward to its next iteration.

not what I was expecting

like a previous review I have to agree this book was a 1.5 not the second. it teases the main story here and there just enough that you don't quit reading. I'll be less mad if the author gets back to the same speed he was setting in the first book. besides that I actually did enjoy this book thoroughly.

Disjointed and incomplete

In this book, we were dropped into a story that was already going. It was like missing a book or critical novelette between book 1 and book 2. The characters were still consistent and the story line, despite jumping forward without an ado, was consistent with book 1. However, I don't like the way the author moved the story forward. In addition, this book felt like a short story. There wasn't a lot of story to digest and enjoy. The story that was there was pretty good, but the other problems took away from enjoying it. The narration was still very good. I may get book 3 if I find it on sale, but book 2 wasn't the same caliber as book 1.

Not as good as SpeedRunner

I still enjoy the series but this 2nd volume completely disregards the main plot line of the first and instead spins off on a side quest, and an incomplete side quest at that. If you liked the first I think you’ll enjoy it but I was hoping to encounter more of Kadens unique skill and find out more about the white knight. It seams that won’t even be likely to happen in volume 3 which seams like it’ll be the Liar King part 2.

Vikas Adam maintains a solid performance.

Way Too Short

This book was about more of a side quest and the author didn’t even have the decency to finish the side quest in one book. I’m getting tired of authors that just think once they get to the 10 hour mark they can just stop cause they have hit their page number count and are ready for their payday. Maybe that’s ok if they fit a full story line in one book but super annoying when they just throw in an epilogue when they hit the 10 hour point.

Felt like filler.

Didn't progress the main story or aspects of MC that stood out in book one. Wasn't a bad book, just felt like it should have been 1.5 not 2.

Great listen. Tough to stop

At first the smugness of the main character in book 1 almost turned me off of this series. Now I lose sleep cause I can't stop listening.

I honestly love this book

Reading some of the reviews I can see why some people were upset because it wasn't about speed running anymore, but honestly I am okay with that. He went in to speed run but discovered a new world. I also would have been done streaming as well, so for me the character is growing and changing. I highly enjoyed the added strategy with the hex tiles and the way the story progressed. I can't wait for the next book.
