About this listen

Lies from the heart lead to a dangerously intimate case for Sheriff Bree Taggert in #1 Amazon Charts and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Melinda Leigh’s novel of revenge and fatal deceptions.

When a digital marketer is found murdered in his backyard—hands bound and face smothered by plastic wrap—Sheriff Bree Taggert and criminal investigator Matt Flynn respond to the call. Their investigation focuses on the man’s dating-app profile and the word liar carved into his forehead.

One day later, the killer strikes again.

Both victims are players in the internet dating scene. In their wake, they leave a trail of hurt—and angry—women. But Bree and Matt aren’t convinced the motive is as simple as it appears. Everyone they interview seems to be lying or hiding something.

As the list of suspects grows, the killer’s rage escalates, and he leaves a personal and deadly warning for Bree. They must act fast. Because someone Bree loves is targeted as the next to die.

Critic reviews

“Scenes from the killer’s viewpoint heighten the suspense as Leigh keeps the reader guessing what’s going to happen next. Tight prose matches the well-drawn protagonists.”Publishers Weekly

“Read Lie to Her and the other books in Leigh’s series for these compelling murder mysteries. Appreciate the realistic characters who struggle with the same things we do—work-life balance, too many commitments, feelings of not doing enough, and self-doubt. Enjoy the rescue animals and the huge heart that the people here demonstrate by their actions.”—Bookreporter

Meh—predictable

This book mildly held my attention. I kept going simply to see if my guesses where all accurate. They were. Not terrible, and certainly a quick read, but was too predictable for my taste.

Great story

Great narrator. Waiting for the next book in the series. Storyline has me guessing who the perpetrator was.

Very good mystery

Usually sequels are not as good as the primary book. In this case, that is so wrong, this was written well and narration was very good. MelindaLeigh continues to author excellent books. I would not hesitate to listen or read one of her books. I can’t wait until the next one of the series.

A good read

Good story line. Kept you interested. Only negative was it was hard to understand the narrator when she tried to do male voices.

Another excellent Bree Tanner

This book is very good. It’s got a little bit of romance and just enough mystery with a bit of thrill in it.
I won’t give any spoilers away, but anyone that enjoys the Bree Tanner series will really like this book because the continuation of the character building is great.
If you haven’t read any of the Bree Tanner books, but you’d like police dramas and mystery you’ll really enjoy this series.

Great series

I love this series, Sheriff Bree Taggert and her family have been thru so much together but she stands strong and always does the right thing. I just wish I didn’t have to wait so long between books. This is one of my favorite series and you feel like you know them personally and the narrator is one of the best! I highly recommend this series of books.

Good but not her best

I feel like this was a quick write up. I can’t stand the screaming/yelling from the male perspective and found myself having to turn my audio down constantly. I just feel like the book was thrown together without much depth to the new characters introduced.

Loved it! Great story!

This was another great addition to the series! I absolutely loved it and was drawn in from beginning to end. I loved getting to come back to Bree Taggert’s life and that it didn’t seem to have a huge gap of time between stories. This can be read as a standalone though. I loved getting to see Bree and Matt come together to solve another murder which quickly turns into more. This story had twists and turns that definitely kept me engaged and wanting the next bit of it for sure! There was some action as well and we get to see Bree’s personal life as well. I truly enjoyed this story and can’t wait for the next one.
The narrator did a fantastic job with the story and the characters and really brought it to life.
