Cha Ming and Huxian have faced the heavens and lived....

Crippled and broken, Cha Ming finds himself in an isolated village. Only the efforts of a mortal doctor are keeping him alive. His qi pathways are ravaged, and his organs are failing. It’s only a matter of time before his wounds claim him.

Meanwhile, Huxian finds himself in his natural environment - a mountain crawling with powerful demons. To survive, he’ll need to eat or be eaten. It’s a good thing eating is what he does best. One man. One fox. One shared life. If one fails, so does the other....

Really fun books to listen to

The author does an awesome job of work creating and involves the reader in all the intricate details of the lives of the people in the world. The narrator is also one of my favorite narrators and it’s been fun hearing him read these books.

Beautiful, Absolutely Riveting Story!

I’ve held back my thoughts on this series until now. This is just ridiculously beautiful. Character development and world building, story progression.. all well executed. The presence of two protagonists also heightens the suspense. Can’t wait to finish the entire series.

good book

I'm already on book 6 so I'm not sure the details on this one, but It was good enough for me to buy book 4. I'm really enjoying the overall story

I had high hope for for this book

The over done slavery trope in this book makes most of the middle of the book unenjoyable to read. It is so overdone it feel like the author just copied that section for another book.

Great middle novel

A proper depowered arc in a cultivation novel. I like that the female characters were not sacrificed for emotional value via sexual assaults. Overall a great middle novel that sets up the rest of the series

Don't listen to the negative reviews!

This book is just as good as the first two. I binge listened to it and wasn't bored for a second. I can't wait to listen to the next books. This author has skills.

Love The Progression

I really enjoyed this book, just as much as the first two! I’m a fan of stories that have character development, and this book showed many of the characters development.

don't listen to the bad reviews

there are a lot of really negative reviews about this book that are underserved, what they say is broadly true but extremely hyperbolic. yes the main character suffers a setback in this book but he ends the book in a significantly stronger position than he started it.

yes the perspective changes between characters but not an obnoxious amount and the focus stays on the main character, and all the other character perspectives are the main characters closest companions from previous books.

the negative reviews make me think these people didn't read/listen past the first few chapters or simply want a story where the main character never struggles in the slightest and effortlessly achieves everything.

Another good one

I enjoyed this book, it was a quite good even if it wasn't perfect.
Sometimes it jumped to a different character's POV without enough notice so I was briefly disoriented.
I also am not a fan of enslavement and abuse, it's a brief part of the story but I could definitely see a certain inn scene being a trigger for some people, so be aware.
