About this listen

Vicious interstellar conflict with an indestructible alien species. Bloody civil war over the last habitable zones of the cosmos. Political unrest, militaristic police forces, dire threats to the solar system....

Humanity is on the ropes, and after years of fighting a two-front war with losing odds, so is Commonwealth Defense Corps officer Andrew Grayson. He dreams of dropping out of the service one day alongside his pilot girlfriend, but as warfare consumes entire planets and conditions on Earth deteriorate, he wonders if there will be anywhere left for them to go.

After surviving a disastrous spaceborne assault, Grayson is reassigned to a ship bound for a distant colony - and packed with malcontents and troublemakers. His most dangerous battle has just begun.

In this sequel to the best-selling Terms of Enlistment, a weary soldier must fight to prevent the downfall of his species...or bear witness to humanity’s last fleeting breaths.

I'm often let down by sequels, but Kloos surprised me with this one. The story takes some interesting turns, and the ending left me eager to start the next book. Daniels does a good job with the performance, and is able to do character voices without sounding forced. I'm really pleased to have found this series, and I don't think you'll regret spending your credit on this one. Cheers.

A great book in a great mil-sci series.

Earth is in trouble. Aliens are attacking Human colonies on distant planets, the North Americans and the Chinese – Russians are fighting each other and in the major cities, the motto is steal first and worry about it later.

Most of the book is non-stop military sci-fi action and the narrator is very engaging. This is Book II of the series and can stand alone. But I found that listening to “Terms of Enlistment” before “Lines of Departure” increased the entertainment value.

This is a pretty action intensive book! the narrator will yell out sections that you would think the characters would yell, it really gets your heart pumping.

High Octane

The series so far is entertaining enough to keep me looking for the next in the series. The narrator is tough to follow when changing a few characters.

entertaining.

The second book in the series does not disappoint as this author continues a great story. The military is well depicted and the story is wonderfully creative. The narrator does a fantastic job and has a wide range of voices for characters. A definate listen.

the best in military sci fi

A well done sequel with the known good characters with new ones joining, leading up to epic events (can't really tell more in detail without spoilers)
The usual great writing and performance.

Outstanding epicness

I think this book really shows the human need to stay alive and fight for everything that’s ours. Also, it shows that we may not always like each other, but if someone attacks us we will come together and attack back.

Another really good book
