About this listen

Love Is Blind is a story about Kelsey Roston finding love where she least expected it, all the while navigating high school as a senior. Finding friends and acceptance, she gets offers that happen to one in a million and proves that once knocked down, she shows her strength by getting right back up. And though life gives us scars, they are nothing to be ashamed of. It goes to show how strong we are and that we survived.

AWESOME YOUNG LESBIAN COMING OF AGE BOOK!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

YES!YES!YES!YES!, Sorry got carried away, This book rocked it was just so very awesome. It had to young lesbian girls trying to find there way in an friendly and unfriendly world, (There is some gay bashing which is dealt with great) There is also the world of living and expecting people with a handicap. (Man if you have one you know what a big deal that is) And it is dealt with beautifully. So there are two reasons to want to read this book right there, if you are a young gay person or an old gay person this book is awesome, If you are a handicapped person this book is awesome too, sometimes if you are handicapped you thing no one will ever see past you "defect" to see the real you. That they will just see the chair or walker or the speech impediment, whatever and will not see your heart. In this book Rain see past (Sorry I forgot her name) the Blind girls blindness, and sees the whole person, The blind chick see past Rain's out there Gayness and sees the girl underneath that she wants to date. ,

What did you like best about this story?

As I said above I like the way the story deals with the gay issue and the handicapped issues with taste and humor, I like the way each person is shown. It is told mostly through the blind girls POV (Sorry to keep calling her that but I have MS and no short term memory so it's hard for me to hang on to things like name from a story) Anyway it also goes through a year of what it's like to go through a year in a singing (Fame) type school and get to the end. Singing is all important. The center of the story, and there handicaps do not matter, (Being gay or blind) It has nothing to do with the final produce. I like the realize in the story too, even the gay bashing seem to hold some trues but I liked how when push came to shove she took them to court.

Which scene was your favorite?

Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert****************************************************************************
I liked the part when she is in the hospital after Ricky (I think is his name) has done his worst and Rain brakes down and begs her to get back together and tells her she doesn't want to live without her. It is a touching scene. It took her breaking up and her almost losing her before Rain comes to that conclusion.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes both, When she is getting ready for school, it reminds me of what I go through to get ready for TARC3 (Handicapped public transit) and I have my eyes, But going through all the logic based steps runs through my head. Also when she bested Ricky at the Dance infront of his friends when he was being a complete jerk, I dream of moments like that.

Any additional comments?

The writing reminds of Erik Shubach who I love a great deal. His Music of the Soul series. Anyway I hope like Erik Alex Gryffon writes a lot of books. Because she is greatly talented. And I haven't enjoyed a book as much since I picked up my first Sandra Dryer or Clair McNab book years ago, (Yes I am that old) Or my first Gerri Hill or Radclyffe book. All above mentioned lesbian writers I drown in there books as went through my own youth into my now old old age. (Yes I know it's sad I am reading young adult fiction but its very well written and very good)

Wonderful story.

What did you love best about Love Is Blind?

Very reminiscent of Erik Schubach's Music of the Soul book. Familiar phrases and sentiments. Good characters, interesting story. Very enjoyable. A very fun listen.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Kelsey. She never gave up. She was strong and positive. Self image issues but that was expected. Rayne was great. Bubbly and friendly. A very good combination.

What does Hollie Jackson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love Holly Jackson's voice. She brings the characters to life and is so expressive.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The title of the book, "Love is Blind"
