About this listen

Life has a funny way of revealing harsh truths.

Cassie Carl believes she has it all. On the cusp of achieving her professional goals and soon to marry the man of her dreams - the handsome, kind, and loving Stefan Van Allen - it seems she's found the life every woman dreams of.

What else could a girl want?

Peyton Kingston is a beautiful, talented interior designer on the rise, whose sole focus is building her business. She loves what she does and has little time or patience for relationships. She's happy with her life.

What else could a girl need?

When Cassie's wealthy fiancé brings Peyton in to do a renovation on their home before the big engagement party, sparks fly, leaving both Cassie and Peyton to question everything they thought they already had.

What happens when the thin veil of perfection becomes riddled with holes?

Contains mature themes.

Gabra Zackman is wonderful. In comparison, Alexandra Shawnee’s voice is like nails on a chalkboard. This audio would have been much better with just one narrator.

One good narrator, one awful narrator

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This author obviously loves bourbon and drinking in general. It seemed a bit overemphasized in my opinion. Generally, the story went well but I found the uneven performances a bit jarring - one voice is low and sultry, and the other sound rather chirpy. I don't see these two voices getting together.

Would you be willing to try another book from S.W. Andersen? Why or why not?

Sure, I'd give this author another shot.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scene when they get caught in the rain - sexy and funny.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes, probably.

Too much bourbon, uneven performance

This story reminded me of how I felt meeting the love of my life. Well written. I'm hoping Andersen writes more soon. The only down side is the performance of one of the narrators, her voice was somewhat annoying.

Great story!

The second narrator was not a good fit and did not work for the storyline.

Wrong Narrator

This was a really good book to read. when listening to it. the narration was not the best. I didn't like who ever plated the part of Payton. the voice was to child like and didn't do great with the other sub characters she was responsible for. Now the Actress who played. Caddy, did a great job and should of just did the book by herself. I would of have 5 stars for her.

So, the story was really good, the tention between Payton and Caddy felt real and realistic to life's unfortunate situations.
The story was engaging, and fun to read.
I think this is am amazing BOOK to read.
It's something I would tell everyone to at least sample it first befor getting the Audio.

4.5 starts from me for sure...

I enjoyed listening to this book! I liked the chemistry between the main characters and found the secondary characters just as intersting and funny. The author had a way of bring out the emotions of the character that I found refreshing. The narration made it worth while. The plot itself was nothing new but it didnt drag on or get annoying. Overall. thisbwas a great book. was my first from the author but certainly wont be the last!

Overall great listen!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Ultimately, yes, as I couldn't put the book down. The book was great and would be a great read. My only problem is one of the narrators. If I could give the woman that read a Cassie a 25, I would. The other, a 2. That is why rating that performance was so hard. Every time the woman that read for Peyton spoke to start a chapter, I would drop my hands down and huff and stomp like a 3 year old. I don't know if it would have been as noticeable if Gabra Zackman wasn't really good. It should have been just her. When I saw two narrators I was excited at the possibility of how good this could be. I agree with all the other comments that there was such a huge difference in performances, that it felt off. Overall, it was a great book and maybe it wouldn't bother someone as much as me. Just know that the book is worth the narrator that occasionally takes over.

What other book might you compare Love by Design to and why?

The author has a very Melissa Brayden feel. The cute, romantic, God I need them together - just the feel. And yes, that's a compliment.

What three words best describe Alexandra Shawnee and Gabra Zackman ’s performance?

Why God? Why? IF the book was read by Gabra Zackman only, it would have been three 5 stars from me. I hated so badly to give a lower rating, but Alexandra was just annoying and wasn't in the same ballpark with Gabra. I am just glad that some of the biggest moment were read by Gabra

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Something amazing that I can't think of at 3 am.

Any additional comments?

None.

Why, God? Why?

The story was great, the narrators were good, but the one who was "Payton " had a bit of an annoying voice... Better had one narrator
