About this listen

As the first anniversary of the formation of the Kings Lake murder squad approaches, there is a problem—they've run out of murders. As a result, they are given the task of reviewing unsolved cold cases. One of these comes back to life in unexpected ways as the team try to discover the identity of the young woman whose body was found in the Norfolk countryside two decades ago. And even if they can give her a name, how can they possibly find her killer after so many years?

Peter does it again

Once again I have been transported to the work of Kings Lake and the people who do the horrible work of investigating murders.

The writing is fabulous. The imagery is so vivid. The story and characters are hard not to get lost in.

I have been a fan of this series as well as the DC Smith series. I simply cannot wait for the next installment.

Great!

When I listen to Grainger's books, I keep backing up to listen again. I don't want to miss any. This is another in a great series, perfectly narrated. I hope there will be more.

Another good story

I was not sure would like this one with the focus on Water’s relationship but the story line is very satisfying.

Deep and detailed murder mystery

As we listened to this complicated and fascinating book, its reference to the complication of siblings was evident. The careless use of drugs like acid among the young was sad also. Gildart Jackson is a fabulous reader and makes this book come alive! Bravo!

Fascinating "Cold Case"

Peter Grainger's excellent wordsmithing, extensive research, and insightful observations about human nature continue in this King's Lake case. In addition to his usual interesting plot, he has a wide-ranging knowledge of history, flora, fauna, manners, and police procedures.

Gildart Jackson has an incredible ability to bring the characters to life through perfectly-paced narration and a wide range of voices. He now adds Welsh and French accents to his repertoire which already includes Irish, Scottish, Polish, English public school and Norfolk.
