About this listen

His only wish is to bring comfort to all, but others only recognize him for the pain his healing hands once caused.

Ryker Hayes is a licensed massage therapist, and a damn good one at that. It's a career he's passionate about, and all his plans for life are on track—until he winds up transported to the world of Werifesteria in the body of an infamous warlord, at least.

Now all he really wants to do is forget the misdeeds of his alter ego and retire to a life of anonymity with a couple interesting women as his new partners. Together, they open the very first massage inn and spa in all the land, and take on all the responsibilities that come with it. Turns out, it's a lot of work!

To reach his potential, he'll have to come to grips with the secrets of this mysterious world and the way its magic system functions. Can he find peace in the borderlands? Can he turn his Mastery of the Threads of Power into a fulfilling career as a masseur to the denizens of this fantasy world? And last, but certainly not least, how will he manage his increasingly complex relationships?

didn't rub me the wrong way ;)

I didn't know really what to expect from this title but I really enjoyed it. it's a slow burn, for the first book anyway but was really good. I enjoyed both the narrators but the female actor did really well and I'll look into both their other works. worth the listen.

masseur in another world

fun and interesting twist on the tried and true formula for Isekai. but instead of a badass warrior the mc is a masseur who wants just to open a tavern.

slow burn and funny.

well done narrators. I dont think my mind would have made the same concept. the voices made the story on this one.
with that said the story was good, well thought out. I'm just not a slow burn reader.
I'll pick up book 2 when it gets here.

Good book

Pretty good story though I did feel there was room for improvement in how things are described.

For narration, it was good, but I feel it could be better with a less even delivery in the character's tone.

Relaxing read.

I’ve enjoyed books of a “hero/ heroine” being transported into a new world just to face a world or kingdom ending threat. And wished there was a book with low risk to the hero’s life etc. Well this book is definitely that. You’ll enjoy the laughs and triumphs of the heroes. Along with with some of the raunchy scenarios of the book.

its okay.

Updated review, there are some bad harem authors this guy is not one of them he is good at establishing rules and moving on so he can use the word count on the rest of the series to progress the story, the reason I updated the review is because I gave the second book a shot and liked it he's going allot of things right that other authors do that becomes word padding to meet word count like in some other series.

Pretty good

Great voice acting work! Some of the characters have VERY distinctive voices, which adds a lot of flavor.

So a guy ends up transported to another world, where he has special abilities. That's nothing original. But the idea that he introduces a fantasy world to the art of massage and starts a business doing that is a pleasantly creative touch. Being a "gemling" and having to hide his identity from travelers also keeps things interesting.

At least so far, there is no epic quest, no high adventure, although there are several action-filled skirmishes.

Overall, it would just be pleasant, but not particularly exciting. However, it's the demoness waifu, Somaiyah (sp?) who really makes this book. She is absolutely unique and incredibly entertaining. I almost teared up from laughter multiple times listening to this. It's not hard to imagine the author making a name for himself as a sitcom writer. Who cares what else happens in the book - Somaiyah alone is plenty of reason to listen to this audiobook.

Good story

This was nice slice of life story that wasn't the least bit boring. Taking a marauding warlord and making them a master monster masseur actually makes for a good plot line if done well. This book was done well. I enjoyed the side character backstory and the making of the mc's harem. Then, of course, there is dual narration for the win. I guess what I liked most was the cozy part. It really is just a good story and cozy doesn't mean boring. I highly recommend this book.

Up next...book 2!
