About this listen
A groundbreaking health guide for women of all ages that shows their natural moodiness is a strength, not a weakness.
As women, we learn from an early age that our moods are a problem, an annoyance to be stuffed away. But our bodies are wiser than we imagine. Moods are a finely tuned feedback system that allows us to be more empathic, intuitive, and aware of our own capabilities. If we deny our emotionality, we deny the breadth of our talents.
Yet millions of American women are medicating away their emotions with psychiatric drugs whose effects are more far-reaching than most of us realize. And even if we don’t pop a pill, women everywhere are numbing their emotions with food, alcohol, and a host of addictive behaviors that deny the wisdom of our bodies and keep us from addressing the real issues we face.
Psychiatrist Julie Holland knows there is a better way. In Moody Bitches, she shares insider information about the drugs we’re being offered and the direct link between food and mood, and she offers practical advice on sex, exercise, and sleep strategies, as well as some surprisingly effective natural therapies.
In the tradition of Our Bodies, Our Selves, this groundbreaking guide will forge a much needed new path in women’s health - and offer women invaluable information on how to live better, and be more balanced, at every stage of life.

Few drugs in history have generated as much controversy as MDMA—or held as much promise. Once vilified as a Schedule I substance that would supposedly eat holes in users’ brains, MDMA (also known as Molly or Ecstasy) is now being hailed as a therapeutic agent that could transform the field of mental health and outpace psilocybin and ketamine as the first psychedelic approved for widespread clinical use. In I Feel Love, science journalist Rachel Nuwer separates fact from fantasy, hope from hype, in the drug’s contested history and still-evolving future.

Nearly 70 percent of Americans are on at least one prescription drug; more than half take two. In Canada, every fifth person has high blood pressure. In Europe, hypertension is diagnosed in more than 30 percent of the population. And everywhere, adolescent mental illness is on the rise. So what is really “normal” when it comes to health?

Story
There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.

Women have a important biological rhythm they experience every month that affects productivity, weight, sex drive, energy, and mood. It is essential to be aware of and take care of this rhythm, but it has been widely ignored by medical, nutrition, and fitness research. So as women, we diet, we deprive, and we cram as much as possible into our day, striving to accomplish impossible to-do lists, and scheduling our lives based on a 24-hour time cycle, ignoring the intuitive time our bodies naturally keep: a monthly cycle with four hormonal phases that offer incredible advantages.

All too often, however, the focus is not on basic survival for the many, but on increasing privilege for the few. Author Mikki Kendall takes aim at the legitimacy of the modern feminist movement arguing that it has chronically failed to address the needs of all but a few women.

Story
Data is fundamental to the modern world. From economic development, to healthcare, to education and public policy, we rely on numbers to allocate resources and make crucial decisions. But because so much data fails to take into account gender, treating men as the default and women as atypical, bias and discrimination are baked into our systems. And women pay tremendous costs for this bias in time, money, and often with their lives. Celebrated feminist advocate Caroline Criado Perez investigates the shocking root cause of gender inequality and research in Invisible Women.

This book is an education!
I learned so much about myself listening to this book. So much information that explained some pretty normal things us women experience but do not usually discuss. A great read to learn more about your body.

The title attracted me to this book but...
when I got into it I was excited because it was more than I expected. I learned a lot of different things about my body, brain, sex, exercise, nature, medications, eating and the list goes on. She hit on it all. Easy to listen to. I depart from Moody Bitches a happier and smarter Bitch. Thanks!

Call me a Moody B...
Such an informative book. I'm already giving it a second listen. The author brought humor and education together. I love Cassadaga Campbell. She is just the best narrator.

You can find the truth here
This book has a bundle of great information! Without sugarcoating or omitting facts ! As old as this book is the great podcasts such as Andrew Hubberman! This book is scientific and also the writer is a woman that has gone through different stages!

Listening to this made me moodier.
What did you love best about Moody Bitches?
The first hour.
What aspect of Cassandra Campbell’s performance would you have changed?
The narrator seems to have vocal fry that is distracting and makes the text sound less intelligent. It's really disappointing (and ironic given the topic of the book). So definitely listen to the audio sample before purchase.

Perfect mix of witty and educational
I loved every second of this book. So smart and so interesting. It was unlike other books about health science etc. that make me fall asleep with boredom. It was an amazing mesh between not only the science behind female bodies and medicines but also the real world social Implications and stressors that effect our bodies. Was on the edge of my seat. Just amazing.
