Publisher's summary

When murder turns out to be the special of the day at her friend's seafood restaurant, bicycle shop owner Mackenzie "Mac" Almeida and her fellow book club sleuths have to net a killer....

From clam chowdahs to oysters on the half-shell, Tulia Peters' Lobstah Shack offers locals and tourists in Westham, Massachusetts, some of Cape Cod's most amazing cuisine. But when the body of Annette DiCicero is discovered in the kitchen's walk-in freezer - with a custom-made claw-handled lobster pick lodged in her neck - spoiled appetites are the least of Tulia's worries.

After a heated public argument with Annette, Tulia is a person of interest in the police's homicide investigation. To clear Tulia's name, Mac and the Cozy Capers Book Group snoop into Annette's personal life. Between her temperamental husband, his shady business partner, and two women tied to Annette's past life as "Miss New Bedford", there are now several suspects and multiple motives. And they're getting crabby about Mac intruding on their affairs....

Great 3rd Book in the series

I love Belle. Story is light and wonderful to listen to. Can’t wait to start #4 in the series tomorrow.

Easy fun read!

I enjoy cozy capers and a good mystery. This series is great and I feel like I really know the characters. It is very well written.

Narrator problems

Why don’t the producers of audiobooks actually listen to the production? This one, in every book she narrates, constantly goes up and down in volume, with a high shriek of voice thrown in for good measure. So annoying. Unfortunately she narrates all of this series.

Another Good Read

I enjoyed this latest outing for Mac and the gang. These characters are both likable and relatable. There may be some changes coming, along with a storm, but not before a puzzling death. I didn't have it totally figured out until the big reveal. Now, I need the next book to see about those potential changes.

Great characters , excellent mystery, odd tone.

This is a great “ who dun it” that kept me wondering until the end. The characters are unique and interesting. The one issue I have with this book is the “preachiness” about the homeless situation. The idea that homeless people should be allowed to live in public parks, be served free drinks in “pop up” restaurants and be forgiven for arson is absurd. A kind society would not only feed the underprivileged, but have better solutions for shelter and healthcare. Since Cape Cod is also dependent on tourism, I find the negative view of tourists very odd. I think this part of the storyline could have been eliminated without hurting the plot. We have enough politics in our lives, leave the debates to other genres.

Too political

A clean mystery with excellent writing. The only downside is the author’s constant talk about how all homeless people are in that situation through no fault of their own. She totally ignores the rampant drug use and unwillingness to change their lifestyle. It is a tourist town that allows a tent city in the park. In a normal situation, the tent city would continue to expand and the tourism would dry up leaving the entire town without any revenue.

Lisping child

A child of kindergarten age should not be lisping and mispronouncing so many words. Story was just enough to get me through a wait in the doctor’s office. Not great, not horrible.

Won’t listen to anymore of her books. I listen to audible to relax not to hear her side of homeless situation
