Publisher's summary

My midlife crisis. My rules. And if it doesn’t put me six feet under, I plan to live it up in style - possibly for the rest of eternity....

After a Luke Skywalker/Darth Vader moment, I discovered I do indeed have a father. He comes with a hell of a lot of baggage, but I’ve decided to keep him. Not only do I have a father, I have a kick-ass new sister, a ghostly family, and super powers to boot. If you add to the mix that I’m dating the Grim Reaper, it’s a freakin’ party.

The only thing standing in the way of my happiness is the Angel of Mercy, though Angel of Misery is more appropriate. She’s responsible for almost everyone I have loved, and who has loved me, being taken away. With the help of family and friends, I will track her down and show her exactly what a perimenopausal hot flash looks like in action.

Job: Death counselor - supergluing ghosts back together and solving their issues is rewarding. For real.

Mission: Bring the seriously evil Angel of Mercy to justice without dying or getting anyone else killed in the process.

Team: A bunch of certifiable Immortals, including one who re-homes vibrators. Yes, you read that correctly.

How to do this? Wing it. Wine, my demon boyfriend, a houseful of deceased squatters, and good friends by my side will help.

Fun series

Another excellent installment in the series, with yet another cliffhanger ending! I also think the narration is very good.

Hooked but repetition is awful

I am hooked to the series but the repetition with each book is starting to get on my nerves. With the MC constantly talking about how she is 40, how she’s southern and has manners, saying, “ya feel me?” With a lot more, it’s getting very old. With each book you get the whole run down again on what happened in the past, on each character. Who they are, what they are, their mannerisms, etc…you almost could skip all past books and jump into this one. Even with all that I can’t seem to not listen to the next book in the series. The story has me hooked and have such good cliffhangers I have to keep listening. Very entertaining. Just could do without the repetition.

Best book of the series!

Thank you Peterman, you finally delivered. This book was fantastic. Although, I felt the last 4 books could have easily been edited into a trilogy. This book was hilarious, sad and heartwarming. After slogging through the last 2 books I was happy to get closure in most of the loose ends.

Narration was still a problem but the content was good enough to dismiss it.

While I enjoyed this book be aware that it still ends in a cliffhanger but this time it more or less begins a new storyline. Which means you can end it here or go on to learn more about the overall paranormal events of this little GA town.

Good story,

I'm enjoying the story but the narrator and sound/volume control is off putting and hard on the ears. .

#abrknpoet reviews My Midlife Crisis, My Rules

My Midlife Crisis, My Rules is the fourth book in the Good to the Last Death series by Robyn Peterman. It is a hilarious and heartwarming paranormal women’s fiction novel that follows Daisy, a death counsellor who can see and talk to ghosts. In this book, Daisy has to deal with her newly discovered father, sister, and superpowers, as well as her relationship with the Grim Reaper. She also has to face her archenemy, the Angel of Mercy, who is responsible for taking away many of her loved ones.

This book is full of snarky humour, quirky characters, and supernatural action. Daisy is a relatable and likable heroine who is going through a midlife crisis with style and sass. She has a loyal and eccentric group of friends and family who support her and make her laugh. The romance between Daisy and Grim is sweet and steamy, and they have great chemistry. The plot is fast-paced and engaging, with twists and turns that keep you guessing. The book also explores themes of family, friendship, forgiveness, and destiny.

If you are looking for a fun and entertaining read that will make you laugh out loud and cheer for Daisy, then you will love My Midlife Crisis, My Rules by Robyn Peterman. It is a brilliant addition to the series and I can’t wait to read the next one. I highly recommend this book to fans of paranormal women’s fiction, urban fantasy, and comedy.

So Invested!

I stumbled upon a different series of RP’s last week and was hooked! As I wait for the next one of that I have started this one (I didn’t know the order).
If anyone is familiar with the South, we tend to 1) give long winded and descriptive directions, 2) burble often when telling a story, 3) have kitschy sayings, and 4) Repeat Ourselves, A Lot.
So I don’t mind the repetitive bits interjected into the story. I skip
Over the first intro now of each book because I am listening back to back, but the rest is fine.
The Main and secondary characters are ‘Farking’ Hilarious!
The stories inside each book further the plot lines with little twists here and there. It is Entertaining and RP has made me CARE about the characters.
We all inject our own stories and situations into what we read, it is what enables us to connect or disconnect from Characters. I have connected to Daisy in a real way. There were several moments when I went from tears streaming down my face to laughing out loud. Well Done RP! I will DEFINITELY be continuing on! Just got my new credits today! Have some more books to buy.
Oh and the narrator has grown on me. It only took the first book in the other series to get used to her style. Brava ladies!
