About this listen

Robert Asprin’s classic fantasy series! With cover illustration by Phil Foglio!

A Detective’s Work...

Skeeve needs more than magic to solve a matter of Murder and Myth-tery. He’s in a real pickle this time. His green, scaly partner, Aahz, has disappeared, and it looks like foul play. Finding Aahz ought to be a snap for a talented magician like Skeeve, especially with a sassy apprentice and a dumb-but-brawny bodyguard along for the ride. The trouble is, they're sleuthing in another dimension that makes the Bazaar on Deva look tame!

Disappearing Act!

“Banishment from the Bazaar is out!” Aahz snarled. “Not only would it destroy our reputations, I'm not about to get run out of the Bazaar and our home over something as idiotic as this!”

“We're going to have to go after them.” I sighed.

“Half right,” Aahz corrected. “I'm going to have to go after them. It's too dangerous for someone at your level of magical skill.”

“My level? How about you?"

“Experience,” he said loftily. “I'm used to doing this, and you aren't. End of argument.”

“'End of argument' nothing! Just how to you propose to leave me behind if I don't agree?”

“That's easy.” Aahz grinned. “See who's standing in the corner?”

I turned to look where he was pointing, and that's the last thing I remembered for a long time.

Not one of the better Myth books

solid performance by Noah Michael Levine but a lack luster story line. character development is lacking, plot is plodding, but the characters are still fun and the story is relaxing and easy to listen to. You can probably skip this book in the series.

Delightful. Relaxing 😀💞

I Love Aspirin’s. Myth series. It was delightful to be able to listen. Read these with my kid almost 20 years ago. Well done. Love the puns and tongue in check

The narrator really does not get what he's reading

The person narrating this novel (and the others really) does not seem to get what he is reading. There is a scene in the Bazaar where a Deveel has a collection of genies in bottles. Instead of pronouncing djinn as jinn (which is how it is supposed to be pronounced), he says D-Gin. Therefore, the joke about Calvin being the latest thing in jeans is completely lost. There are other words that he tragically mispronounces as well.

outstanding

Had the series of books, but had lost some, and didn't have the rest of the series, I absolutely love listening to them while doing chores and the narrator was excellent.

Funny fantasy series.

I loves this series as a kid and I still enjoy it today. Listening takes me back to my teenage years.

Very underrated fantasy series

Easy Read. Clever but absurd fantasy story, sort of like a zany DnD campaign. One of my all time favorites.
