Publisher's summary

Three days ago, I didn’t even know Simon Cambridge existed. If it wasn’t for one drunken night out with my friends, I would never have met Mr. Cocky Pants. I certainly never would have entered into a bet with him if I’d known then what I know now. And if I hadn’t lost the bet I wouldn’t have to work for him for the next month. Today is only day one and he’s already driving me crazy.

Ms. Gemma Whitestone,

I expected you in the office at 7 am. You’re tardy. Not a great look for your first day.

Your boss,

Simon Cambridge

Simon,

I’d hardly call you my boss. It’s not like I wanted this job. I’ll be in as soon as I can make it.

Doing you a favor,

Gemma Whitestone

Gem Gem,

If this is just a favor then I know something else I’d prefer more. Meet me at my place at 10 pm.

Your boss and soon-to-be lover,

Simo

Mr. Cambridge,

That’s not appropriate language to be used with a member of your employ. I will be there in 30 minutes.

Your secretary for a month,

Ms. Whitestone

P.S. If anything was going to go down, it would be at my place, not yours.

Gemma,

Send me the address and I’ll come right now.

Simon

As I stared at the emails on my phone, I contemplated not showing up. Having the cocky, grumpy, irresistibly handsome Simon Cambridge as my boss for the next 30 days was going to test every part of me and I wasn’t sure I would last two days without ripping him to pieces or ripping his shirt off. And I wasn’t really sure which one I wanted to do most.

Overall Quality A Bit Substandard...

Author repeats certain trite phrases too often NOT to be noticeable. Character and behavior of Mains not nearly developed enough. (story just didn't flow smoothly). Behavior seemed almost childishly pathetic eg: mood changing from apethetic or skeptical to horny at the snap of the fingers. This weak story forces a pathetic meet-cute like accidentally spilling scalding hot coffee on his back meant that "returning the favor" of him spilling the same back on her (purposely) to win her back should endear himself to female readers?(Um, color me unimpressed) The male voice actor's tone and cadence often times sounded almost A.I. or wooden in it's lack of emotion. The British accents were mediocre at best but the vocabulary... "cookies" mean cookies?? Every romance reader out there know the British say "biscuits". Hm, what else? No real definitive ending to the ex BF storyline... and what shoddy writing to "attempt" ending that plot device with an "Oh, woops I thought you were your sister" with the ring enticement. Oh, and Billionaire Simon... only a true skeevy creep (with zero class) would posses the "notches on his bedpost" approach to wooing the female lead... offering her the 30-day job as his assistant.., (on the stale pretense of helping out this poor but beautiful woman: 25k) forcing her to perform unreasonable duties; intimidating her to join him on a biz trip... and lastly forcing her into his bed by manipulating her business reservation from two hotel rooms to one. (that just gives me "Harvey Heinstein" vibes). Hindsight - approach this read with really low expectations and maybe you won't be disappointed. (Heavy on the "maybe").

There’s no way

Good story up until what he did for the break up that always happen in these books. I know this is a book or make believe but no woman who knows her worth would ever. That’s all I’m going to say.

🥰💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Delightful!

My first book of J. S. Cooper, I loved the feel good story, boy has his own complications, but seeks girl anyway. I loved the narrators John York and Allie Shae, my first time listening to their work. She has a mellow sweet voice. It was a happy reading. It is a very spicy adult novela. Happy Listening! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
