About this listen
No Easy Deeds is neither a time travel novel nor a rom-com, but it cleverly blends elements of both genres. Genuinely funny, nostalgic, and occasionally touching, it’s another gem of a story from the bestselling British author, Keith A Pearson.
Not that he's counting but, 409 days ago, life was rosy for Danny Monk. Today, the 3rd of September 1990, Danny's future seems almost as bleak as the British economy in the new decade - the glamour and glitz of the '80s replaced by a deep recession, crippling interest rates, and mass riots over the poll tax.
Then, by pure chance, Danny stumbles upon a new job opportunity. The prospect of becoming an estate agent holds little appeal but, as one of the two million unemployed, any job is better than no job. Danny accepts the role of trainee negotiator with Gibley Smith.
Little does he know it, but Danny's new job will result in the strangest of encounters, and an offer that seems almost too good to be true - complete a somewhat unorthodox challenge in exchange for the deeds of a detached house.
What Danny doesn't realise is that there's far more to both his challenge and reward than he could possibly imagine. For better or for worse, 1990 is destined to be the year that irrevocably changes Danny Monk's future.

'It's been 11 months since I sat in my teenage bedroom and my mundane life was cast into madness. I suppose you could argue it was a lot longer if you include the 30-year trip back to 1986.' After his miraculous weekend in 1986, Craig Pelling returned to a future he could never have envisaged. Even by his own hapless standards, his plans have spectacularly backfired. Does he face a bleak, lonely future, or does he try to seek answers? Either way, an emotional roller coaster beckons.

Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

Great characters, excellent narration!
Just like the other four Pearson books I've listened to (so far!), the author takes the time to develop each of the main characters exceedingly well and still keeps the story moving along. Looking forward to more in this series!

Hurry! I want more now!
I loved every thing and character in this book. I am invested in their lives and cannot hardly stand the anticipation of book 2. I discovered Mr. Pearson a couple of months ago and am devouring them as quickly as possible. The second book is supposed to be released in audio in spring 2025. I will be one of the first in line to purchase as I want to make sure Danny and Kim get the happy ending they both deserve. Thank you Mr. Pearson. I am now going to download the Angel of Camden series, because I miss Clement so much.

Can't finish it but...
I did make it to chapter 28, hoping that something, anything, would actually happen. It didn't. I found this book under the Time Travel category, and I'm sure that eventually there will be some in there somewhere, but I'm over halfway through and it's just a poor jilted guy going to work and coming home every day. Add to that the narrator's weird pronunciation of the word "says" (like it rhymes with slays) and the fact that the main character wasn't very likeable or even interesting and none of the other characters introduced so far were likeable, and I just regret wasting all those hours.
At the time I'm writing this, there are only 3 other reviews, all 5 stars and all by anonymous users. I have to wonder if we were reading the same book.
