Publisher's summary

A young wife and mother - new to this town and to its secrets - learns just how much she doesn’t know in this tingly tale of all the things hiding in the dark at the top of the stairs, from bestselling author Brandi Reeds.

While renovating her Victorian home, Ana Clementine finds an ornate door buried under forty years of earth. Once she restores it to the attic, she starts hearing whispers, her loving husband has become a stranger, and her baby daughter learns a chilling new word. Maybe Ana has unlocked the house’s secrets. Or maybe she’s becoming just a little unhinged herself.

Brandi Reeds’s Oak Avenue is part of Dark Corners, a collection of seven heart-stopping short stories by bestselling authors who give you so many new reasons to be afraid. Each story can be read in a single sitting. Or, if you have the nerve, you can listen all by yourself in the dark.

Should be a full book.

This is a very good short story and really should be a full novel. The end begs to be continued. It has every thing a horror story should have....ghosts, an attic, even a wizened old crone.

good quick story.

Enjoyed the story very much. The perfect amount of unexplained supernatural. I recommend for a quick listen.

It’s the narration...

The story is good. The narration is decent except when the narrator tries to mimic a man’s voice. For some reason she slows her pronunciation down. The male voices sound perpetually sleepy or dim witted.

It drove me crazy. I’ve really enjoyed all the new collections of stories on Prime reading but the narrator for this collection just irked me.

I’m going to stop listening and just read the rest of this collection of stories.

Alright

I had read a Brandi Reeds book in the past and it was excellent, this was ok, would not really recommend though.

More time maybe?

I don’t know if it needed more time to really finish the story or Just a better ending. Really annoyed I wasted time on this pointless cliffhanger!!!.

Ok story, terrible narration

I thought the story was, “Ok”
But the end was...well without spoiling this short read, the end of the story was not that great. The narration was awful and it really ruined the story for me I think. Had I read it without listening, I probably would have given 4 stars to the story itself.

What?!

I really enjoyed this story, but I feel like it would have been better if it was longer and more drawn out. It was spooky, but I feel like it had better potential as a longer story. That's just my opinion of course. I'm sure people will disagree with my opinion. They probably think it's perfect the way it is. And that's okay. Either way, I recommend this short and fun psychologically horrifying story.

Had alot of Potential

The story started out good but the characters were one dimensional.

The narrator was not good at all and made it worse.

I think if this had been longer with more character development and a few more scares it could have been fairly good.

The plot was good. I didnt expect the book to end the way it did. Hopefully there's a part 2
