About this listen

Say goodbye to the stress of mess - for good! You can find the order, beauty, and peace you desire - and deserve - in your home. Organizing for Life reveals the secrets of keeping your house neat, clean, and organized without spending every minute of your life working on it.

Finally, an audiobook that goes beyond the how-tos of cleaning and looks right at the heart of messiness so permanent change can take place. You'll learn why things are out of control so you can get them back in order and keep them that way. You'll uncover the mental and emotional roots of clutter - guilt, fear, rebellion, habit - so you can get rid of it. Even the best cleaning methods are useless if you can't keep up and soon slip back into old habits. Stop struggling. You can overcome that old, unsuccessful mind-set and discover a new way of thinking that makes messiness a thing of the past.

What made the experience of listening to Organizing for Life the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed this book. It brought out some simple but profound truths about those of us who are "born messie". Felton has a compassionate understanding of so many of the aspects of our problem with organizing our lives and our houses. My only bone to pick is that this audio is not unabridged... several times whole lines or paragraphs were left out. I noticed because I like to do "emersion reading" where you look at the book as the audio reads it. If a book is advertised as "unabridged" then the entire book should be present. Otherwise I would have given it the other star. It is a simple read, but a compassionate one with an understanding which can only come from someone who's been there.

Any additional comments?

Not unabridged as advertised... paragraphs and sentences were missing from the book.

Enjoyed but it was NOT unabridged...

I have hope now. I can finally shred those bill stubs that contribute nothing to my life. And that will be just the start! Thank you, Ms. Felton.

Oh boy, I sure needed this!

I Loved the personal applications because through overcoming her own struggles, she had more credibility which then projected hope!!! Thank you.

Where does Organizing for Life rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I enjoyed this very much. One of the books I will listen to again and again.

What did you like best about this story?

It made sense. Practical and down to earth.

What about Melinda Schmidt’s performance did you like?

Oh, she's great! She has a happy bounce to her voice that I find likable and enjoyable.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from Organizing for Life?

I hope to organize and stay that way and not feel bad throwing all that stuff out that others insist I keep. I seem to be the family storage unit! NOT ANYMORE!

Any additional comments?

I would have liked to be warned that this was Christian based. Throwing the bible verses in there without warning was inconsiderate and insulting to other peoples spirituality. If I wanted to listen to bible verses I would have bought a book on that subject. Other than that, this book is worth listening to.

Great praticle insight.

I enjoyed this to listen to (while cleaning;) but preferred the book because this is not, in fact, unabridged, and sometimes, as another reviewer has also stated, takes out entire sentences and paragraphs that takes away the meaning or point of anecdotes, etc.
otherwise a well-chosen narrator and lots of good info.

Good info, but misleading--is not 'unabridged'

My favorite part is her explanation of the possible causes of my disorganization. I thought the things around me was the only thing wrong with my messy life... I was wrong after listening to this audio. I learned to approach cleaning differently and started making improvements. Thank you.

Very Helpful

Any additional comments?

It's mostly about the mentalities that cause a mess and it's not scolding, it's encouraging and discusses the roots of the problem.

Excellent
