About this listen

The tide of battle has turned. In a magnificent feat of maneuvering, Parno McLeod has lured his enemy into an ambush that has left the Imperial Army with half its strength dead or dying and all of its material support destroyed.

And yet, the remaining Imperial Army on Soulan soil still numbers over 150,000 men. Men who are now angry and hungry, which is a dangerous combination. Plans that Parno has developed since his ascension to Marshal are finally coming together as highly trained reinforcements arrive at the front, along with rested and refit units that had been pulled from battle due to losses. Everything seems to be leaning in Parno's favor for once.

But the Imperial Army is still there, before him, and Parno wants nothing so much as to tear that army into shreds and have it simply disappear, as if Soulan herself opened up and swallowed them without a trace left behind. So, he hatches one final campaign to ensure that happens.

For better or worse, Parno McLeod is about to ride into history. But will it be as a savior to his people, or as a butcher of a beaten army? And will either choice make any difference to those who see him as a hero?

Hercules Hurcules in my Mrs Klump voice

I enjoyed every book in this series period I know nothing of prose or tambour or whatever. Simple straightforward and to the point that's how I like the hero to be.

Greatest of series

This series is my all time favorite. From the first book to the last I couldn’t get enough. Reed finished the series as strong as he started it! This series made NC Reed my favorite all time writer! Do not miss out on a great series!

to stay or not to slay that is the question

yet another good book came out. This one doesn't have the blood and guts action at some of them too, but it wasn't bad. It does run up the series nicely I expect you'll write more though

Great series.

I've waited to complete the series to write this review. I started the first book looking for something to listen to while waiting for the next book in other series. This quickly joined the list of series I needed to finissh. Writing kept me engaged, the characters were believable and people I would like to meet, and the performance was exceptional. The series provided moments of shock, joy, and tears. I'm sorry it came to an exceptable end and would want to listen to more, if the author chose to continue the story.

End of a Series

It is always sad when such a great series ends. You tend to become attached to the characters and hate to let them go. Only great writing and character development leads to such results and this book and the whole series have both.
