About this listen

Vengeance consumes my every thought.

I've been betrayed. Abandoned. Left for dead.

But at least I'm no longer alone. My beautiful half-elf companion insists that I will save her people and end the Blood Drought crippling the Empire. She believes our union is inevitable, a prophecy revealed to her in the flames.

I don't place much faith in destiny, but I've never met anyone else like her. She's the first dragon with human blood and last scion of a once proud house. With time and training, we could become unstoppable.

Assuming we survive. Our enemies are legion and our allies are few. Together, we must find a way to rescue my other wives.

And then recover my stolen throne.

Promise in Flame is the second book in The Dragon Sovereign series, Sarah Hawke's fantasy harem epic.

Another great book by Sarah Hawke. You will not be disappointed. Also the dual narration really brings the story to life. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Fantastic listen!

Stellar voice acting for a stellar story! These actors really did justice to the characters and emotion wrapped up in this tale. Great accents, and the dragon voice was perfect!

Definitely worthy of place in your library!

Seemed a bit darker & more intense than book 1.

This book brought me back to the days of D&D's Forgotten Realms universe.
Definitely an action packed harem fantasy adventure series.
The MC, who's a black dragon and should be the emperor was betrayed, stabbed and left for dead by his best friend, also a dragon, who is now the emperor, lost his memory from the magic dagger he was stabbed with.
Somehow he got his memory back and now he's got to find his wives and take back his empire.
Awesome story. I give it 6.5 out of 5 stars.

Sarah Hawke is at the top of her game

There are few authors in this genre with such detailed world-building, such richness in characters, such deftness in natural conversation, and such an ability to tell a compelling story. And yes, there are spicy scenes aplenty too. I eagerly look forward to the next book in this series.

As for the narrators, I'm not a huge fan of Ben Hart. The main speaking voice he uses for the books he narrates is honestly kinda annoying sound, but I'm probably in the minority. Ellory Lane does a great job.

Book felt padded with bs before we got to any good parts

As I said this book feels padded with a ton of useless info dragging the book out until the story bits. Through out the book the MC is continuously repeating the same inner monologues or going over pointless information. The MC had 2 major over arching objectives and the accomplishment of them is dragged out until the very end leaving the rest of the book full of nonsense. Honestly you can skip almost every interlude, and a large amount of the chapters and get the full story of this book. Which I kinda recommend unless you’re inclined to hear out the spicy bits. Not to mention this entire books takes place over a weeks worth of time which does not do the damn series any sort of justice considering the sheer scale of the events taking place. This is a country which is apart of an empire which presumably covers the whole planet or a large majority of it. We also have gods involved in this. The minutiae spent on trivial things or the inability for the author to zoom out and add some scale to this series will be it’s downfall. We don’t need to get bogged down in trivial matters when there are consequences larger than our MC picking out a good inn to rest at or to hear the trivialities of a jaunt through some tunnels. So spend the credit if you want but honestly the whole book could have been 4-5 more chapters after the last one with how much happens . Feels like a money grab….
