Publisher's summary

The Bennett family have lived close to the town of Meryton, in Hertfordshire County, for over two centuries. They have had good times and troubled times, still managing to keep their middle-sized estate, Longbourn, within the family. Thomas Bennett is the current master of Longbourn Estate; He, his wife and their five daughters are barely managing out a decent living, due to his sloven nature, insolence, and indolence. He became such a man after realizing he had married beneath him in the worst way.

Franny Bennett, the daughter of a solicitor, became Thomas’s bride, elevating her station in the eyes of society. After learning of the entail set upon Longbourn Estate, she became terrified; things rapidly became worse as she bore daughter after daughter to her husband.

Franny then became the worst mother, wife, and gentlewoman in England; She constantly criticized her daughters, who she felt did not favor her, and did nothing to further the education of the ones who did. She was loud, shrill, vicious, uneducated, and known as a horrid gossip. She threw her two eldest daughters at each and every man, who was known to have a somewhat decent situation. Ignored her middle daughter completely, all save to disparage her verbally, whilst her two youngest daughters were on their way to ruining the entire family with their wild ways.

Then one day Fanny was out shopping and overheard a conversation where she was the main topic. That one conversation caused her to rethink her position in life, and how she and her family were viewed in the community where they lived. In fact, the entire Bennett family changed in numerous ways, most of the community were in awe of the ‘new and improved’ Bennett’s… but, there were some who could not, and would not, believe such a change was possible.

Three years after the ‘Awakening,’ as the Bennett family called their change, a new family said to be quite wealthy moved into the neighborhood… The Bingley’s. They leased the estate, Netherfield Park, which was only three miles from the Bennett’s estate, Longbourn. Charles Bingley, the head of the family, also brought along his best friend and mentor, Fitzwilliam Darcy. Mr. Darcy was known to be very wealthy, and the owner of a great estate in the North.

As time goes on, the Bennett’s began to realize there is something odd about the Bingley’s… something that rings false, and worrisome to all of them. The more they spend time in their company, the more they feel there is something terribly wrong at Netherfield Park. However, none of them expected just how nefarious the Bingley’s really are… until it is too late.

Before they know it, the terror begins; Mr. Darcy is drugged and compromised. His infamous relations are on their way to rescue him from a horrible marriage. Mr. Collins has come to Meryton and is determined to have Longbourn for himself, of course, after throwing the Bennett’s into the hedgerows,. The Bennett family found themselves to be quite ruined, threatened with gaol, whilst the majority of the town is out for their blood!

Read on to discover the Bingley family’s terrible secrets! What does Mr. Darcy and his family have in mind for his enemies? What happens when the Bingley’s go up against the Bennett’s? Shhh… Let’s find out…

I love this author’s varation!

So I don’t love AI narration, they have come a long way so it’s not bad narration but there are artists that do an amazing job. It is expensive so here we are. But I had to listen to them because I really love this author. Her writing isn’t perfect but the fun creative story lines that more than make up for it. I can’t wait to pick up the next one. Her writing is so gloriously indulgent, you want to have a good gossip over tea with the main characters. So keep writing and I’m excitedly on to read part 2.

Twists and turns!

Good plot and I liked the VV better than I thought I would. Several pronunciations were misspoke throughout book but not too bothersome. Where is part 2?

I enjoyed the plot and story overall. some parts were not true to character in my opinion but still plausible. I enjoyed this perspective and can't wait for part 2 on audible so I guess I'll be doing some old school reading! haha

Salene Garrou’s books are incredible of all the Variations & worthier of AI’s (tolerable! Less noticed!)

A cliffhanger literally salivating for more! That being AI surprised me! The Bingley ‘s turn out a total bizarre surprise! Completed & in immediate search! Couldn’t find initially & then went to Amazon, Book 2 hasn’t converted yet to Audio, BUT…The Book form (lg print) $4.99, on Kindle …so me too w/ my glasses on! Unable to wonder, do my responsibilities & sit leisurely by the pool melting in August summer heat of FL! But shall have my story & satisfied thirst to resolve the best mysterious of Variations!

Great Imagination - Appalling Execution

Within the first 20 minutes of this story, I was ready to quit and wondering - Why all the rave reviews? I kept listening to find out. The author has a great imagination and I might give this book a 4 star rating IF it were given to a proof reader and an editor. This book is embarrassingly full of errors from switched tenses, Point of Views, repetitions, modern words and phrases, out of character actions, incorrect contractions, etc. The story is so Not like any Pride and Prejudice variation I have ever read or listened to. It might be more believable if the setting were the Wild West, not the English countryside during the Regency with characters who are supposed to be ladies and gentlemen. Over-the-top actions and rhetoric, especially as regards RETRIBUTION (which got a little old after the 3rd character). Supposedly intelligent characters overlooking the obvious and going off into ridiculous rants. I honestly don’t know why I kept on listening. Curiosity to see what would happen next, I suppose. And then there is the Virtual Voice narration and all it’s mispronunciations, like Da-Cur for Darcy. Finally, the author didn’t finish the story but split it into two parts. I could understand if this were a 2 book series with a Part One and a Part Two, but that is not the case. She wrote a story and split it in half, leaving readers hanging in the middle of the story. I don’t much care for the deliberate manipulation. I don’t know that I will bother with Part 2 of this story, but I’m pretty sure I won’t try any of this author’s other books.
