lacking in character development

I really liked the world, and the general premise but compared to similar stories this series lacked in character development, and character building.

while characters gain power and wealth throughout the story they never really learn from their mistakes, and most of the characters are so one dimensional that it's a struggle to keep track of who's who.

I have to give extra stars since it's an omnibus and I didn't hate it, it just had a lot more potential than it ended up living up to.

I’m on the fence…

The story itself isn’t bad, pretty good actually. It’s the MC…he’s an idiot. Not in a “noob” way but he’s CONSTANTLY doing stupid things that of course work out and cause ALL of his friends to worry for him…repeatedly. He starts with 2 potential love interests but the second girl just disappears and no explanation was given! I lost track on how many custom weapons and blimps he lost (see destroys). However, steampunk isn’t an easy genre to write in so this series does exceptionally well in that regard. Unfortunately it’s such a visual medium that without exposure to the genre you might be confused by some of the concepts. All that being said, it’s hard not to recommend a 3-book omnibus. Just don’t expect “non-traditional relationships” as other in its “recommended list” are. Another disappointment in this series but it’s my fault for assuming.

Best GameLit steampunk book I've read this month.

I was a little put off by the book lengths of each book in this omnibus but the story didn't suffer because of it.
Usually when the book lengths taper off like that it usually means the author ran out of (creativity?) maybe?
Buy since this is a Han Yang series I had to give it a try.
And was pleasantly rewarded.
This is a fun series with a great story, characters and adventure, monsters and gods and lords and robots.
I liked this series. I give this book 7.5 out of 5 stars.

Straight up middle review

Man, the cover drew me in. It’s hard to find decent steampunk stories. Immediately I lost interest due to the whole “litRPG style”. This is not my type of book.

I made myself give it a chance and completed the first book in the series. Just not for me.

If you enjoy LitRPG it may be for you, but this style is a turn off. The procedural style of a constant build for something that is yet to be defined is not a fun process for a story.

I won’t give a 1-2 rating because it’s just not my style. I won’t rate 4-5 because I could find anything more to grab me.

good story but abruptly ended

I enjoyed the books for the most part but the abrupt ending kind threw me off. It's makes for a good listen but it doesn't have any re-listining value.

Suffers from poor plot and realistic characters

Book doesn’t appear to have a clear direction for me to enjoy it. I don’t find the dialog between characters convincing or realistic, not engaging or entertaining. The overall story isn’t very interesting and not something I can get into. I also find the steampunk aspect lacking in depth and originality. I think the narrator did great considering the material. Also, not a fan of harem type books, but there a minor issue overall.

Excellent Adventure Trilogy!

Han Yang does it again with this Steam Punk story! If Han doesn't give us a bad book, or at least mediocre, we'll eventually start suspecting Devine intervention in his writing.

This is a great value. The story is cool and the elements are very interesting. Clean and honest adventuring base building city leading

Cringe

I was able to get three hours in. The whole dialogue is cringe worthy and everything seems forced. I do not recommend.
