Publisher's summary

In the distant past, a time of magic and swordplay, there lived Harold, the mightiest lich of all, a master of arcane sciences, and a challenger of gods. After reaching the pinnacle of his power and finding it surprisingly bland, Harold waged a cataclysmic war against the gods, aiming to shatter the very system that confined him.

Then, he took a nap.

An incredibly long nap that ends with a jolt, thanks to an unwitting adventurer who trips into Harold's crypt. Blinking into the torchlight, Harold finds a world he barely recognizes. No more swords and sorcery, but a universe buzzing with cultivation, celestial sects, and far too many pretentious dialogues about the path to godhood.

Harold is no naïve cultivator. He's an ancient lich with a single ambition: to slide back into his uninterrupted eternal slumber. But the cacophony of quarreling sects and smug martial artists seems determined to keep him awake.

Undeterred, the sleep-deprived overlord is ready to confront this brave new world. After all, no aspiring deity, no grandiose sect, and certainly no self-righteous martial artist is going to rob him of his beauty sleep.

The terrible puns!

I liked the other books from the author more, but that doesn't mean this isn't a good and relaxing book. narration from soundbooth theater is also good as always. Just know that the puns are full-groan

Was a very good listen

story is solid fun narration is mostly good, The Limpet's voice is very odd at first I thought she was like a 10 year old based on the voice but actually she is 18 years old apparently. regardless she is still narrated well despite the odd voice choice, otherwise the whole story is great. worth a credit

Great story

An all-powerful lich goes to sleep, gets woken up a few thousand years later. He feels the need to get caught up.

I liked it. This is basically a fish-out-of-water story, he doesn't know the current state of things.

A sample goal: He wants to read some books with as little fuss as possible. But things go wrong. And his butler is acting weird.

A classic problem with all-powerful beings is introducing a sense of threat into the story. Since Herald's goals tend to be fairly simple but fragile, based on people cooperating with him, there is a steady sense of threat in them.

I loved this

This story was alot of fun, SBT did an amazing job with the narration (as always)
My only complaint is it was to short.

I have not enjoyed a new series so much in a long while.
