Publisher's summary

Most people would be overjoyed to win $50,000 and the chance to star in a nation-wide commercial, even if it was just for a fast food joint like Camelot Burger. Then again, Clint Tucker has never been like most people.

Ushered to the tropical paradise of Kenowai, he and the other winners undertake an island tradition for the cameras, one meant to free a local imprisoned deity. One with very specific requirements that have yet to be met. One that might just be a bit more authentic than any of them expected. One that will begin a journey fraught with danger, excitement, and more beer than is wise or healthy.

Great Story!

Despite my 4 star review this is and excellent book that I would freely recommend to anyone.

The loss of the star falls on probably a petty point of mine, and to be honest 3-4 years ago this would have warranted a full 5 Stars. Having read almost everything else Drew Hayes has written has however upped my standards and probably helped me better understand my tastes in books, so if you're reading this Mr Hayes it's all your fault.

These Characters did not feel as developed or independent as any of Drew's other characters, with the soul exception of Thunder who will forever be in my heart from this point on.

The Narrator was good don't get me wrong but he might have had a hand in the characters all running together.

TLDR:

Great book, not quite on par with other Drew Hayes novels.

An excellent romp, if it's okay to say romp

This is just a good, fun, neat story. As is usually the case with a Drew Hayes work it's filled with characters that you can't help but like. You're rooting for them all the way. It's an enjoyable ride, well narrated, with a sweet and satisfying finale.

Best one yet

The story is a really fun romp and I enjoyed the reader’s zeal. Drew said this is one of his favorites and now it’s one of mine too.

Hilarious!

Hilarious and entertaining! This book definitely does not take itself seriously and that's awesome. It was a light, fun listen.

A heartwarming tale, sprinkled with Drew’s wit and charm

After nearly listening to all of Drew’s books, I decided I would finally give this one a try. Though different it has what I love about his writing. I can’t wait to see what he writes next.
Also Matt Armstrong did a fantastic job narrating.

Pretty good story but....

I like the story. Easy to keep up with, quick, lighthearted. My only problem is with Thunder. His Dude-Bro speak is considered cute and funny with some irony. I cannot help but think that if the character had a very heavy urban patois, the entire book would have been deemed completely offensive and would been banned. In the end the character did not speak urban so I guess my point does not matter. I just got a little bent with his affectation because it was a little over the top and it was not taken serious until he dropped some knowledge. Whatever...
