About this listen

Londyn McCormack didn't have a typical childhood. She ran away from home at 16, escaping parents more interested in drugs than their daughter. She doesn't have loving siblings or an adorable pet. Her only family is the five other runaway kids who shared her junkyard home.

Life pulled them all in separate directions, taking her to Boston. For a short time, she thought she'd found something permanent. But after a devastating divorce, she's running away again, this time to find a lost friend.

She's driving across the country in her convertible. As a teenager, the rusty car was her shelter. As an adult, it's her ride to freedom.

Except one flat tire derails her trip. Her life collides with Brooks Cohen. They walked away from the first crash. The second might destroy them both.

Take Me Home, Country Roads!!!

Goodness, Devney Perry does it again and again! I spent a good 20 years of my life in the great state of West Virginia and she totally painted that visual with just her words and some fabulous narration. I felt the stifling heat and the crickets in the evening. More than that though, I felt the sweet charm of a small town in the south. where everyone's your neighbor and family. Mrs. Perry just creates that all over.

Then we have the fabulous Brooks and Lyndon. These two old souls, I think that Cadillac took over driving and put Lyndon right in Brooks' lane! There's something so... fun about starting over like Lyndon does. She's on the search for something more and she finds that more, so much more!!

Loved the sweet purity to the story. They made me smile and laugh, they made me feel wistful and tearful, but in the end, it was nothing but peaceful ♡♡♡

Looking For Home

What a lovely story…Devney Perry/Willa Nash is quickly Becca favorite go to author, plus she has the best narrators
This story feels true with people you would want to know, experiencing the hardships of life and moving forward figuring it out. Both the H and the h have their own obstacles, hers more than his. They look at life and work to figure it out
Absolutely love the endings of her stories
I will happily own as many of this authors books as possible and listen to them again and again

Just beautiful.

This is such a sweet and fun story. Brooks & Londyn are absolutely adorable, I just love a southern gentleman, Brooks has all the qualities I love in my book boyfriend. He’s sweet, kind, respectful and he adores Londyn. Londyn, proceeds with caution because of her upbringing but she finally finds what she longs for. Londyn found her home with Brooks.

Audio awesomeness!

I just finished this audiobook and it is already one of my favorite listens! Everything about it spoke to my heart and soul! The characters are deep and interesting with reasonable flaws, room for personal growth. I never had to suspend disbelief. I was eager to keep listening so I could know what happens, but as I approached the end I was having anxiety because it would then be over. Brooks & Londyn are a beautiful couple, but I also love the town of Summers and the other people there. There are some exes in the mix who are flawed and definitely belong firmly in the rear-view mirror, but they weren't the cut-and-dry Good/Evil scenario of being the bad guy.

The narration delivered by two of the absolute best narrators in the industry was nothing short of flawless. Maxine Mitchell & Jason Clarke are amazing performers who bring all the depth of emotion at the perfect levels at the perfect time so you get lost in the story. All the feels!! I will definitely listen again!

Such a perfect start to this series!

“My hand pressed against my heart. She was stealing it, little by little.”

Review: This is book 1 in the Runaway Series. It was my first book by Devney and definitely won't be my last!

I love the premise behind this series. Six friends who grew up in a junkyard together. All reconnecting over a car that once was home. I loved that this junkyard was in the next city to where I live and that I go to multiple times a week. It's so fun thinking about these characters everytime I'm there. We start the journey with Londyn and Brooks. This small town in West Virginia was so entertaining and I adored Brooks. My heart hurt for Londyn and what she went through, but she definitely ended up where she was meant to be. I listened to the audiobook by Jason Clarke and Maxine Mitchell. They did a great job bringing Brooks and Londyn to life! I can't wait for Gemma and Easton next!

Another winner

I don't think there is a book by this author that I haven't loved. In the beginning I was annoyed with London cause why would she leave when she found something good.
But she had to go through leaving to realize that she found her home.
I can't wait for the next book in this series💖

Jason Clarke. Nuff said.

The story was a tad cliche. Lost soul searching for a new life who meets what could be the man of her dreams by mere chance... but hey, that's to be expected. It's a romance novel. That being said, it was relatively well written, had cute side characters and one or two villains (for lack of a better term).

But what really made it a win was Jason Clarke. There's just something about his voice that grabs hold of you and doesn't let go. It seemed a bit raspier than usual and I don't know if that was by design, and don't really care. The man could literally read anything and I'd melt. Ohh, the money I would pay to have him voice my Alexa......

Maxine Mitchell, on the other hand, was the only negative in this scenario. Don't get me wrong, she did a great job reading Londyn. But Brooks' dialogue, not so much. Sounded so ridiculous that it completely disengaged me from the story.

Worth the credit? For me, anything with Jason Clarke is credit worthy. But it was rather short and a tad predictable. I wish it had been part of the Romance Package.
