About this listen

Maxwell Morgan has always been a very practical guy. He started working at age fifteen because his foster family was stretched thin. He joined the army right out of high school to earn money for college. Even after getting his first job after college, he kept working the three jobs that let him get there—National Guard infantryman, farmer, and blacksmith.

About nine months into his new job as an HR Generalist, Max’s boss arranged a one-week team-building event for the team. Max and his five attractive, female co-workers boarded the plane for Sheridan, Wyoming, and then things went sideways.

Suddenly, they were going…somewhere else. What's a practical guy to do?

Great Book.

Love the premise and the story line is very interesting. The voice actors are very good and easy to listen to.

Nice

An interesting story with a nice diversity of characters. So many things happening and a very different hook at the end. I’m certainly looking forward to the next book! Excellent narration which added to the overall experience.

I'll listen again...

the world is alright. The caricatures are fleshed a touch slow but it works. Could have used a bit more action within the development but it was good. The spicy bits were not over powering so if ya glaze over them no harm.
The "advertising" at the end is a new thing for me. but get through it and there is a nuget of a story at the end.
over all it feels more like a slice of life then an adventure book. but its about to break over.

Time travel, no apologies to Albert Einstein

I prefer stories of common men stuck in uncommon situations but nothing about this M.C. Is common. To avoid handing out spoilers I’ll just say that this protagonist is physically, emotionally, and mentally uncommon. Unlike so many people in this day and age this character is kind to his ladies and apparently has a Degree in patience.

Modern folks meet 3rd century Saxons and Franks

“Saxon Max” is an interesting isekai/time travel adventure story. It starts out slowly, building the characters during five chapters of slice-of-life living. With the sixth chapter, the adventure really begins. Two early deaths signal that this is not going to be just a fluffy story of sex in the woods.

There are similarities to Eric Vall’s “Without Law” series, but the characters in “Saxon Max” are far more believable. We have a story of adult, capable women instead of a group of nubile coeds who suddenly become experts at weapons and hand-to-hand combat.

The author did a particularly impressive job of using fantastic details of the Saxon, Frank and Roman era (3rd century).

Both VAs provided excellent narration. I enjoyed the story, and look forward to a sequel! 5*

I think the story idea is great . the author will either sink or swim with direction in next volumn.
we all like strong male mc s but this guy makes Rambo , john wayne and the marlboro man look like peewee herman. well not the Marlboro man . this mc is perfect pc .

Original take on isekai

Kind of like going back in time to just after the show Barbarien. Knowledge of history and base building is the main cheat here. Guns play a role but aren’t the big game changer. Can’t wait for book 3.

I think it's worth your time and treasure

A little context for the review. I tend to take it easy on the first book of any series as beginnings are inherently shaky endeavors. The cover art was interesting, but the story was more so. Essentially our main hero is the United States version of Fabio. Honestly the description and backstory of our hero makes me think of a sexy fireman calendar. I'm not familiar with the narration team but I think they did a fantastic job. I enjoyed their performance, but I will say that I speed up the playback to two times speed which does have an effect on the narrator’s voice when they have a lower register. I figured I'd just passed that along if anybody thought that the narrator was too low or too slow then you can speed it up and it sounds normal at least to my ears it did. Lastly, I'll just say thank you to the people who help bring this book to us the audio listeners. It really is well done in my opinion.
