Thriller with twists

Great story and great twists and turns - multiple perspectives tell the story & you root for the “good guys” while not quite knowing who they are…

Great Read!

Found this book in the airport of all places. Muddled over buying it for literally 20 min. I put it down so many times. But kept going back. Great read. Super good story line. I read it all in less than 2 days. 😅 page turner!

Atmospheric and Creepy

This was my very first Lisa Unger book and it did not disappoint. This book quickly made it onto my Most Anticipated list for 2022 because it has all my buzzwords; secluded getaway, luxury cabin, locked room mystery. I finally got to it earlier this month and it was such fun read. This would have been the perfect fall read. It's very atmospheric and almost creepy at times. There are a couple of great twists and while it's very over-the-top, and at times you may have to suspend your disbelief, I feel that it's worth the read. A great escapist-thriller to binge read.

Overall, I really did enjoy this and will be picking up more of Lisa Unger's books in the future.

The scenery that the book took place in

Overall, I enjoyed this book but I was hoping for it to have more shock value and more of a twist. It was not my favorite book I’ve read by Lisa Unger, but I will continue to read more of her books because I love the way she writes. This book was a 7/10 for me personally.

Meh *SPOILERS*

The story was kind of lame and neither thrilling nor scary. I didn’t hate it, but it definitely wasn’t worth more than $10. The ending was pretty dull, and nothing felt resolved.

*SPOILER*
Like, Liza chose to stick by Mako? She’s having his baby?
And NOBODY said a damn thing about the cabin owner having cameras all over every square inch of his rental and watching people do the nasty and shower? No repercussions for Bracken?
And at the end, Hannah is STILL cleaning up for Mako (and to a lesser extent, so is Cricket). She took the blame for her brother raping that poor girl and got publicly shamed online.

The narration was good, I’ve always liked Vivienne Leheny. She’s got a very good voice for thrillers.

Should have been better

Good idea in theory but seem to fail and execution.. really was a struggle for me to get through and really not any kind of surprises in the plot. The narrator also kind of made it all drag..

Lots of Moving Parts

The characters although flawed were easy to like & relate too. I enjoyed getting all the different perspectives from each character. Fast, easy read.

Twist at the end

I did like the twist at the end, there were a lot of characters to keep track of at first, but eventually as the story came together it was easy. I did see the ending coming a few chapters before reveal, but it was still worth the listen and a good story.
