About this listen

"A five-alarm fire of a situation…the surprises keep coming." (The New York Times)

Secrets, obsession and vengeance converge in this riveting thriller about an online dating match turned deadly cat-and-mouse game, from the New York Times best-selling author of Confessions on the 7:45

She met him through a dating app. An intriguing picture on a screen, a date at a downtown bar. What she thought might be just a quick hookup quickly became much more. She fell for him - hard. It happens sometimes, a powerful connection with a perfect stranger takes you by surprise. Could it be love?

But then, just as things were getting real, he stood her up. Then he disappeared - profiles deleted, phone disconnected. She was ghosted.

Maybe it was her fault. She shared too much, too fast. But isn't that always what women think - that they're the ones to blame? Soon she learns there were others. Girls who thought they were in love. Girls who later went missing. She had been looking for a connection, but now she's looking for answers. Chasing a digital trail into his dark past - and hers - she finds herself on a dangerous hunt. And she's not sure whether she's the predator - or the prey.

Wow!

Very psychological. One minute you think you know which way the story is going then the next it takes a turn. I couldn’t put it down.

Predictable

I love this author’s books, just
Wish this was less predictable and would have liked more suspense!

So so good!

This read kept me on my toes until the very end. I especially enjoyed the theme of resiliency and the message of love despite all that has happened. What are you waiting for? Go listen!

Writing style was a bit confusing but otherwise a great book

I kept getting confused about the perspective I’m supposed to have as the reader. The story and background to the motives were interesting though

Meh

Just ok. Didn’t hate it but didn’t love it. It was very slow until the end.

Disappointed in the performance

I love Lisa Unger novels. This performer however is ruining it for me. Her voice constantly sounds like she’s on the verge of tears and it’s very depressive. She sounds desperate, afraid, sad in even the most benign paragraphs. I checked the book out from the library and I may just finish reading it myself. I’m very disappointed in how bad this reader is reading this novel.

Too drawn out

The story was not bad at all, but it was way too monotonous in a way to drawn out. I wanted to quit listening itquite a few times. If I would’ve bought the book itself, I would definitely not finish it. narrator was OK.

Good

Reader's voice is monotone, but you get used to it. Good story with twists and turns.

starts off strong and then falls off

it's a book that is really fast paced and exciting on the beginning, and then it drags on and the ending is mediocre at best. the narrator, though very talented, has a voice that is far too matronly and mature for the main character she reads for. I had to really force myself to finish the book, and only did so because of how good the first half was. don't waste a credit.

character's fatal flaw

Found it difficult to believe that the main character would willingly submit to a man she suspected was a serial killer. Others paid the price for her reckless, thoughtless behavior and she had no remorse because hey, she had to know.
