Good story

Great narration. This was an interesting story and Simon Prebble did his normal great job as narrator. I like Klye a bit better than Rose only because Rose was continually unnecessarily dense. I appreciate her devotion to her brothers (I have brothers and understand) but her inability to see the bigger picture was a tad frustrating. Kyle, however, should have told her about the threats to her. That constant stain of not wanting to hurt her ran a bit thin after awhile. Overall good romance and story. Satisfying that the villain did see retribution.

The dishonored lady and the gentleman miner

I did not think the current rating of this book is doing it justice and should be in the 4+ stars. Lady Rosalyn finds herself in a nightmarish situation, being auctioned by a sadist viscount to his friends. Kyle Bradwell was an unlikely guest and the only person who interceded to help her. As the story continues, we see how an untitled hero full of integrity and strength of character continues to clash with a sadist and cruel man who uses his noble rank in the most despicable and self serving way. I particularly liked the exploration of the difference of classes and their impact on the relationship between a ruined lady and the son of a miner. I also enjoyed the pace of the story, the building of trust between the main characters, the eccentricity of their helpful friends and the final confrontation with the villain. This is my first book for this author and I'm now a fan. The narrator was pretty good as well.

Great!

I loved this book!

First off, unlike some audiobooks, the narrator was top-notch, with a lovely British accent that worked perfectly for the book. Secondly, the story was a little slow at first, but worth the work, because when the story crashes in, the characters are already well developed, which helps propel the story into greatness.

There are lots of twists and turns and complicated relationships which seem true-to-life. For anyone who loves stories which are sexy, but with deeper undertows that pull you into the storyline and characters, I highly recommend this one!

Way to go Simon!

For many reasons I liked this story but two stand out the most. First there was zero angst. I hate silly plot twists used to extend a story, this one is not like that and second, I feel Simon Prebble did an amazing job with the narration. Yes this book is worth the money and I will listen to it again one day.

A very good book

I especially liked the fact that this wasn't about aristocrats, but a young engineer. Madeline Hunter always writes very compelling stories. This is the third book in a series. I listened to it first, but it was interesting to read the first two books, and then listen to this again.

As always Simon Prebble is the best narrator around.

Good Find

A well drawn story line for a romance. A bit too much sex, but not overly lengthy scenes at least. And the golden-throated Simon Prebble......enough said there. I'll be looking for more by this author. As for Simon, I'll listen to (almost) anything he reads.

One criticism of the production......the chapter headings come almost on top of the end of the previous chapter's ending text. The editor could have done better! I notice that this happens with certain books but haven't noticed whether they are all by the same recording company.

Loved this book and loving the series this far!

Madeline Hunter did not disappoint with the 3rd installment in the series. My only annoyance with the story was Rosalinds unwavering support of her brother Tim. It was even worse than Alexia’s in the first story. There were so many times I wanted to reach into the book and actually shake her! Like girl, please bsffr!!! Tim deserves NOTHING!! Less than nothing. Maybe I’m cold hearted but he and the older brother Ben were pretty despicable. Other than that I loved Rosalind and Kyle as characters! Their love story was beautiful and also very steamy. The Narrator was good but I do have an issue with the way he narrated the Rokswell brothers. They all sounded the same and especially similar to the villain. In my head the brothers sound way sexier. I think he could have found a way to create some differences in the main mail characters without making the supporting characters seem weak and haughty. Which, we know they are but still…that’s why the performance was knocked down a star. Still worth the listen.

"detailed drivel"

A total waste of money. Details that became very boring and silly. I couldn't even finish the first part.

Great For Sleepless Nights

This book put me to sleep. I kept waiting for something to happen. I was so bored with it that I kept checking to see how much time was left. I finally just decided to pack it in. The "hero", Kyle, is likeable enough. He seems altruistic and pretty selfless overall, in spite of his penchant for being a bit domineering. I guess that's how men were back then, demanding that their wives obey them. Rosalyn, on the other hand is just.......boring. I couldn't find much about her to like. She seemed kind of witless, always defending her scoundrel brother. She turns out to be kind of helpless in spite of the spirit she shows at the beginning of the story.

I usually like male narrators, except when they try to pitch their voices too high to speak as a female character. I got the sense that Mr. Prebble was rushing through this book as if he couldn't wait to finish it. From the sound of his voice, he is an older man and I guess I find it a bit incongruous for an older man to be reading chick lit. His own accent is polished and upper-class so he does a good job with the aristocratic characters. But his lower-class accents were quite badly done.

All in all there is nothing special about this story. Don't waste a credit, or your time, on it.

Paleeese

The hero is wonderful, admirable. The heroine is a twit! Why would he want anything to do with her? So she's pretty, big deal, she's an idiot. I'd like to choke her! This story is absolutely implausible, considering what a foolish, nitwit the main character is. She does nothing to deserve him - she's not mature or smart nor does she seem to have any sex appeal. Sheesh, why would he want her? Ugh, I wish I'd saved my credit!
