About this listen

The Delta is assembled, but the threat is far from over.

Rory travels to the Moon, encountering her grandfather's footprints from fifty years ago. She returns to her parent's home, eager to forget about the last few weeks, but the Shadow persists.

Silas and Cody are covertly led to the Planetae laboratory but quickly realize there's more to the tokens than their initial assumptions.

Waylen struggles to maintain peace as the walls between organizations crumble. When one of his closest allies betrays them, Waylen's trust is shattered.

Who invented the Delta?

What are the Echoes trying to show them?

Can they prevent an invasion, or has it already begun?

Shadows of the Earth continues the Token series by Nathan Hystad, the bestselling author of First Life, Lost Contact, and The Other Place.

Always enjoy these adventures. Never had a Nathan Hystad book that I didn't thoroughly enjoy.

Excitement

A different take on space exploration and alien contact. Suspenseful throughout. Filled with characters with unique goals and personality. Throughout you are never sure of where the story is going to go.

Unique storyline

This new book was a bit more twisty and turny, but it kept me on my feet while still allowing me to love the characters I’d previously met in book 1.

Excellent series and character development

Great continuation of book one. Feels like a new book (bk 3) should be next. I hope it's already out.

The second book in The Token series is somewhat better than the first book. The first book read like a YA novel and there was less of that in this one. Also, there were more twists and turns, making this 2nd book a more interesting story. The first book was a bit predictable and plodding.

There is still some tedium though. We have a cross country road trip and Rory settles in to teach. Some things just take too long to develop. On the plus side, some of what appears to be irrelevant (e.g., Weylan's love life) is actually relevant.

So far, it's an entertaining if not exceptional tale. When the third book is released, I'll undoubtedly listen to it to see how it ends.

The narrator does a fantastic job.

Sequel is better than the first in the series

Good story with a a lot of plot twist. Some writing got out of character at times - like agent Waylen forgetting the life and death scenario they have been facing and takes his new/old girlfriend on a case where aliens may melt them all because she insisted. More to that story… All in all good read for the money and I will purchase final book 3. Narrative was excellent.

Lots of plot twist oh my

The first book was good enough to prompt me to buy the second book, but half-way through it started to become unbelievable. And 2/3 of the way through the dialog was so bad I couldn't finish it. It was just silly at that point. The things things the characters were doing and saying by the end of the book we on par with a really bad B movie.

Jay Snyder as always did an excellent job with the narration.

I couldn't finish it.

I went thru all books and enjoyed. however, pay a lot of attention as the plot is convoluted at times.

performance was very good
